Beholders working for the Egg = brill. 8)
I would describe them to be, not spheres, but ovoid. Also I would delete their eyestalks--just have egg-shaped, hovering orbs with eyes all over the surface, perhaps like Beljoxa's Eye from S7 of Buffy:
