Your way of saying you hate this idea? Sad

My dear viking, you should know me better by now! Smile

This is my way of fueling the debate!

The only concern I would have with this noble creature is that it looks too fluffy, and that it should look meaner.

The pic above does not instill horror.

This one does:

Make me a campaign based on this!

If some members of this race became standed on Blackmoor's world, could there be a City of Amoboids out there somewhere? What would their culture be like? I'm assuming that any technology they may have has been lost over the years so I am thinking more of a traditional fantasy approach.

Any ideas?

First of all, that pic makes me think of man-shaped Gelatinous Cubes with all sorts of stuff inside which has not yet been digested nor ejected. That's different than the Dralasites. Perhaps there are two sub-species to consider!

Inclusion of these as a standard race would be lots of fun (provided it would not dominate the setting, mind).

Are they aquatic or terrestrial? Amphibious?

The architecture of their settlements would be non-linear, with vaults, curves, arches, and also entrances/exits being naught more than narrow pipe-tunnels through which they alone can pass (to keep out those species who cannot morph into different shapes), posing quite a defensive feature! Ramps as opposed to stairs, vertical shafts up which they can shimmy to upper storeys.

Are they of Lawful/Good alignment? Chaotic/Evil? Neutral? Are they in the employ of the evil Egg of Coot? (I hope not.)

What is their mode of locomotion? Oozing, walking on pseudopods, rolling like a ball?

Can individuals fuse together to form one Super-Blob? Confusedhock:

Being simple, giant, single-celled organisms I would imagine that they were the First Race in the world, having arisen from the aquatic environment which abounds in Blackmoor.

Excellent idea, btw, DD.

I think there is a treatment of a similar monster society as you describe in some other source - like,
I am not sure, but I think it was a comic book. Flash Gordon perhaps?

I'll give it a look, maybe I can provide some visuals...

Good ideas! I agree with you that they should only play a minor role though.

Good questions. I think I would prefer it if they could be encountered above ground, although I like the amphibious idea. I like the suggestions about their architecture too.

Dont know? Smile

My initial thought is pseudopod style, although anything is possible I guess? Smile

Why not, lol! Smile

My thought would be that they would be of off world origins, keeping in line with how they were introduced in the original campaign as part of the Star Empires game...
