Tracy's HackMoor Campaign 2014/03/11
#1
The first week began with conjectures as to whom the culprit may be regarding the recent Murders at the Town Inn in Blackmoor.

According to Numrendir:

- A female halfling is the prime suspect.
- Elefus and friends are the prime targets.
- A high level mage is probably the ringleader.
- All murders occurred at the Town Inn of BlackMoor.
- Murder weapons found at scene were not magical.

Numrendir then pays a visit to Willis the Technologist (Willis the lone survivor from Temple of the Frog and City of the Gawds, NOT Willis the Actor in Town.)

After sitting in the Willis' waiting room for it seemed like an hour, Willis' secretary a buxom Blond Elf, lets Numrendir in.

Numrendir then commences to relay the Town's news ad-infinitum, and then asks some further questions and learns the following:

- Willis confides he does not yet have the complete trust of King Uther, but he does have his attention.
- Willis confides he does not yet have the trust of Fletcher William.
- So it appears main purpose of his employment is that it brings the kingdom a profit. (Weapon development is secondary, since there has been a lull in the war with the Barbarians.

Numrendir then asks "Is it possible (like the City of the Gawds communication devices) to have transponders put on items such as daggers and coins?"

"A marvelous idea!" says Willis. He then pushes an inlaid button on his mahogany desk and says "Bambi", could you bring one dozen of our new Mark I transponders in here?" A few minutes later, Bambi rolls in a cart laden with a dozen miniature transponders and a large metal box. "You got me to thinking Numrendir." says Willis, "I was thinking too small and was planning to use these devices on a few choice locations."

Willis then plugs in the metal box to an innocuous set of (previously unnoticed) small holes in the wall and demonstrates how items can be tracked with these transponders.

"This box only works in a few rooms here and at the Come Back Inn." he says. "It takes a certain kind of 'magic' to make these boxes work. You see we have to install these copper 'ley' lines between here there and the Watermill. But soon every building in Blackmoor will have them. As soon as the Watermill gets an upgrade."

Then Willis exclaims, "Blackmoor could put these in all our minted coins and we'd never lose a Copper piece due to theft! King Uther would just love it!" Willis then pushes another inlaid button on his desk and says: "Your Royal Highness, guess what? We need to have a meeting ..."

The rest goes down into the history of Blackmoorian numismatology.

Next item on Numrendir's agenda to help solve the murders was to get a Royal Charter for Numrendir's Detective Agency. Thanks to Willis' support, it was easily accomplished, as well as a "Letter of Marque" against all enemies of the State and Blackmoor's ally the Tenian Peoples Liberation Front
