An interesting post, but the title is sort of misleading since it's clear that Frank thinks of BECMI as a Frank-Gary production rather than a Frank-Dave thing. As such, Dave really didn't have much of a "legacy" in BECMI, even though it's the system where his DA modules made their debut.

I tend to agree. The basis for the article was Frank's statement where he said he wanted to continue building on the ideas from both Arneson and Gygax. He has been more focused on Gygax' legacy in his statements in the past, as the two were close, and also perhaps because he was talking to DF'ers, so I see this statement as a shift.

Dave ofcourse did have a legacy in BECMI, but he also did in every edition of D&D. But while AD&D was designed to be a shift away from the Arnesonian content, due to the royalties dispute, the Classic D&D line (including BECMI) was more free to borrow from Arneson's works. Recently at the Piazza there has been discussion about how many monsters from Supplement II were brought over to BECMI's Creature Catalogue, while creatures from Supplement I were often left out, considered to be more a part of the Advanced line.
