This year the text of the writing competition is this:
Quote:Dave Arneson's Day is the first of October, and it is the date when this campaign started, a few years ago. Its purpose was, and still is, to (humbly) remember Dave Arneson and his legacy.
For this reason, for the third year on the run, I'm proposing a small writing competition for the players participating to this campaign. Of course, the end date will be the first of October 2023 (let's make it 12:00 mid day, GMT, just to be spot on).
The winner of this small competition will receive 200 XPs to divide as desired between their characters (of course, if the player controls a single character, that character will receive the 200 XPs, if the player controls more than one character, then the XPs can be divided as desired). The runner up will receive 100 XPs and the third will receive 50 XPs. All other participants will receive 5 XPs.
In your submission you will write a fantasy story set in a classic Blackmoor location or trope, with your character as protagonist. It is important for this competition that the story incorporates a strong Blackmoorian feeling.
The story has to be written as a post private to the GM in reply to this thread and it can be as long or short as desired (as long as it is accepted by RPoL), but has to be a single post for each player (player, not character). The post can be modified as many times and desired. After the submission deadline of the first of October 2021 @ 12:00 mid day GMT, all posts will be made visible to everybody and the winners will be proclaimed.

As usual, on the 1st of October I take the chance to step back and look at how this Living World campaign is developing. As part of this exercise I also look at some numbers, and the number of posts is of course the first to be reviewed.
First year: 2,500 posts
Second year: 3,000 posts
Third year: 3,800 posts
Fourth year: 2,800 posts
Sixth year: 1,900 posts
Seventh year: 3,400 posts
Total: 17,400 posts
Any comments on your side?

On the 1st of October, Dave Arneson Game Day, when I originally started this campaign, I take the chance to review and discuss how this Living Campaign is doing. Of course, the first (and easiest) statistic I can produce and review is about the number of posts, so here it is:
First year: 2,500 posts
Second year: 3,000 posts
Third year: 3,800 posts
Fourth year: 2,800 posts
Sixth year: 1,900 posts
Seventh year: 3,400 posts
Eighth year: 1,900 posts
Total: 19,300 posts
What do you think? Any comment?

Incredibly (for me), the Blackmoor Living World campaign have just hit the 20,000 posts milestone.
We started this campaign on the 1st of October 2017 (on Dave Arneson Game Day: this campaign is indeed my humble tribute to Dave Arneson) and so far we played together 44 adventures, plus 4 currently ongoing. This means seven or eight daily posts on average for over seven years.
I feel really humbled and thrilled by the patience and the dedication of so many amazing players that choose to roleplay in my little, personal take on Blackmoor setting.
Thank you so much!

On the 1st of October, Dave Arneson Game Day, when I originally started this campaign. This is the best time to stop and look back at what happened so far. The most obvious piece of information that can be easily reviewed is the number of posts:
First year: 2,500 posts
Second year: 3,000 posts
Third year: 3,800 posts
Fourth year: 2,800 posts
Sixth year: 1,900 posts
Seventh year: 3,400 posts
Eighth year: 1,900 posts
Ninth year: 1,600 posts
Total: 20,900 posts
What do you think? Any comment?

After ten years, I feel it is a good time to complete / bring to an end the ongoing adventures and wind down this campaign.
I started this campaign ten years ago thinking about running a quick Blackmoor adventure in Dave Arneson's memory, and, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of the players this has evolved into a ten years campaign!
I hope I honoured suitably Dave Arneson's memory!

That is a great and epic achievement!
A great way to commemorate Dave Arneson.
It would be very interesting if you could write a summary or perhaps post some highlights from your campaign? Reading through the chat logs of a long campaign that you havent played in yourself can be tough, but I would love it if you could help share your memories from the game?

The bottom line is that there were 50 adventures in 10 years... quite a lot of highlights!
Hopefully in the next future, after winding down properly the campaign, I will find some time to reflect better on this
