The only Shannara book I ever read was Sword of Shannara.

Looks like this series is going to be based on the Elfstone books though.

Later I have heard that Sword of Shannara is the worst book by Terry Brooks...

The thing is, Brooks is not a bad writer per se, but had pretty bad contracts over the 90s and into the 2000s - his editors and publishers always had overproportional influence, and that killed the line. Still, when he's in full command, like with "The First King of Shannara", he does magic with relatively minimalist fantasy.

That not to say that SoS was not a bad book; personally, I am attached to it, because it's the first fantasy book I ever read, aged 9 - but, objectively, yeah, a wonder he got that one even published.

Elfstones would definitely make for better TV series fare. Sword, you could cover in a couple hour or so movie.

Now Wishsong.... THAT is the series I want to see (if only to see who they cast as the leggy brunette from the cover/interior art. Rawr!)

I've only read SWORD but I plan on read the others "sometime" in the future. Consider me interested in watching this.
