D&D 5E Basic Rules
#1
Who here has downloaded the new 5E Basic Rules?

If you need the link, the document can be found at http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?...basicrules but I am pretty sure that is unnecessary.

I have it downloaded and printed out with a coil-binding by Office Depot. In short, Wizards has my attention and I want to see more so that's a step in the right direction. 8)

I've downloaded this first iteration, but haven't given it more than a quick once-over.

Initial impression: seems like the fighter has waaaay too many bells and whistles for the guy who's job it is to hit things. I would have liked to have seen perhaps a little more expansion on the thief, instead. But then, I prefer playing thieves to fighters...

I do like the spell-scaling--it works quite a bit like the channeling rules from the Wheel of time RPG, a flavor I very much like. (I liked it so much, I 'borrowed' it for my conceptual rewrite of magic for my version of the D&D Known World).

The thief will have more options in the Player's Handbook.

I've downloaded it and have been playtesting for a while through a special source friend of mine. My home group has been enjoying play so far, and have liked the player options.

As always, modern RPGs seem to be too wordy. I suspect that most newbies can figure out how to play and how to use dice without spending a few pages explaining that stuff....

I downloaded it, noticed it's over 100 pages and... I'll have a closer look at it some other time...
