Ditto on the spell casting roll, I think! If the target is 8, then a 7 is a success (at least that is my reading of the rules).

Honestly, I love this ruleset because it's simple and straightforward, but I appear to get lost even in the simplest game mechanics... sometimes...
Thank you for doublechecking what I'm doing!!!

So, what is happening? Are we in darkness, or not?

Also, how far is it to the priest, and to the doors behind us?

How many priests are in this chamber? More of less than fifty?

The darkness spell failed and therefore you are not in darkness.
The room is about 20 by 20 metres and you are near the centre.
Behind you is the big, double door you came from and in front of you is the marble staircase going up. The High priest is fivo or six steps up the staircase.
It's difficult to say exactly how many priests are around you. Your best estimate is that there are at least six for each of you, even after killing two, and the rest is not paniking, as far as you can see.
They seem organized as if they were trying to capture somebody dangerous, so they are determined and not off-guard.

Hello, I noticed this post only now.

I have all the detail (rolls etc.) written down on a block notes at home and I'll be able re-check this evening.
However, I remember that on the paper I checked (and re-checked) properly (I remember a failure by one point) and my best guess at the moment is that I made a mess in copying the stuff on the website as I copied and pasted from a previous post and then I made some mods on it - as far as I can think from here, that's the most likely mistake, with no impact on the ongoing story.

I found the mistake: as expected it was a copy and paste mistake  .
Apologies: clearly I come home from work quite tired  .

Hi Boss,

Can you please tell me...what do we know about the Tower of Midges?

Also, have we actually lost any time? I though we only spent one night locked up?

You are strangers in Blackmoor (you come from the opposite side of the continent...) and you don't know much of Blackmoor. You slept few days in Vestfold (that is the biggest city and the place where you started this adventure), but you didn't have great relations and contacts with the other people as the military situation deprived the city of most guards (the few left are at the Royal Palace) and it was quite unpleasant if not plain dangerous to hand around too much. When you came in, you came from south (i.e. from the Thonian border).
You know that in all the places where a road ends in front of the water there is a good chance to find barges to ferry across
Said this, the Tower of Midges is a small town or a village in a swampy area, as far as you know.

When you came into Lake Gloomy, you still had a few hours of light to ride, then you passed all the night and part of the morning in cell. That's some time lost.
Is it a lot? is it a minimal delay?
At the moment you can't say.
You just realize that in this job the time factor somehow may count.

Hello Ladies, Gentlemen and even Lurkers,
I think it's time I ask for your feedback on how I'm running this adventure.
Don't be shy and tell me everything you like and everything you dislike, everything you think I should do more of and everything you think I should do less of.
If you feel too shy, just remember you can always send me a private message.

Insofar I had fun (so on my side I'm happy  ), but I'd like you to have fun as well, so, please, just tell me how I can improve this experience for you: I know I have so much to improve...
