Christopher Dolunt and Kargas

A friend of mine was always claiming that some of the NPCs in the Wizards Cabal were based on real life game designers, but would never come up with any specifics.

Well a quick google search reveals that Chris Dolunt is a game designer who has written game material for Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, Nyambe and other games.

Does anyone know what his connection to Blackmoor is? Just a fiend of the ZGG crew or something more

The current roster of the WC is based on the ZGG crew, including a certain "Veda Sonrean". About the historical characters, I am not sure. Does Dolunt work with Harley Stroh, or Ari Marmell?
That seems the safest track to follow.

Think you could give more specific examples? Who would the following characters be based on, if any?

• Skelfer Ard (Counts as a historical character so maybe an exception?)
  
• Ursula Zov
  
• Mengal Torerdyn
  
• Kyoryl Maloune
  
• Veda Sonrean
  
• Col: The Clockwork Inquisitor: From Harely Stroh's short story.
  
• Stur Nigby (Kyorl's friend, minor character)

Sildonis is also one of the Spellwises, but was introduced in the DA modules, possibly based on the original Wizard of the Woods (Pete Gaylord).

They were among the founders of the MMRPG; they should know.

Jeff Quinn just confirmed to me that he wrote the NPC section of the Wizards Cabal and that he did use other ZGG staff/freelancers as inspiration for the characters. I will see if I can get him to reveal more.

In any case, I don't think they are meant to be exact representations of the real world people, just inspiration/homage.
