I'm hoping Mike Carr can help confirm or deny the details, as William admitted his memory isn't perfect...that was a LONG time ago.
Perhaps my "Interview" with Mike Carrposted here, can help?
William Crolley is not a name that rings a bell at the moment. Very interesting. Do you remember what sort of characters he may have played in Arneson's campaigns?

I don't know what William played. He was much more an avid historical miniatures gamer than a RPGer. He's also pretty quiet.
I did indeed read the interview with Mike. What I really, really want to confirm is that Sir Fang triggered the 'need' for the cleric, and that the thought process was "vampire hunter -> healing -> cure disease -> priest/cleric". I believe it because it's the sort of adhoc way things went, but a "Yeah, I remember it more or less that way too" would be nice.
William is a truthful person, but, geez, this was FORTY YEARS ago.
