Act 1, Scene 2: Scouting out the Unknown!
#21
Suddenly, Grumm stood up amidst the swirling inky vapours. "Who's there!" the Dwarf cried out. "Give yourselves up or succumb to a terrible sorcery!"
#22
You hear a faint whistle and a wave of slim, dark figures jumps silently forward, attacking Grumm and Ewart with agile swords.
As far as you can see, you guess that they are some kind of Elves.

While Grumm and Ewart are ready to counterattack, Hororin is still in the midst of the cloud of darkness.

Ewart is attacked by two enemies, but he masterfully avoids their blows and his counterattack deals a very heavy body blow to one of them.

"Evles!" shouted Ewart. "Watch out for archers!"

He pivoted, parried, and counterattacked, chopping deep into one of the attackers. The longsword's blue blade flashed in the starlight as he pressed the attack.

The enemies keep pushing Ewart, while some more shadows seem to approach, but this time one of them falls to the ground after receiving another blow.

Your enemies yelp in grief, as two of their companions fell so swiftly. You are well prepared to do battle with them, but it seems they have had enough.
They lope off into the darkness.

In few minutes the effect of the spell wear off and you search the bodies at the light of the campfire. They are definitely Elves, but the palest Elves you ever saw. They wear dark grey robes, leather jerkins, short swords. Nothing you would swap with what you already wear, apart perhaps the boots, that look comfortable and silent, but are definitely too small for your feet.
You also discover 17 gold pieces in all and a golden statuette in the shape of a fist. The fingers are clenched around something that rattles as you pick up the golden trophy. Try as you might, you cannot unclench the fingers to reveal what lies within.

Will you take this? Who will carry it? How do you want to arrange for the rest of the night?

"What an interesting object." Hororin comments as he examines the golden statuette to see if it has any magical properties.
#30
It is definitely an uncommon and arcane object, but Hororin never came across similar objects before and is not sure about its magical properties.
