The Bortai Sirk was a past leader. Far past, at that. The time difference between the DA series and the d20 version is quite large. So, make it huge, or make it recent. Heck, the traitorous Bortai Sirk could have been a cousin, uncle, or the father of Shepro that perished early in his life and gave him the drive to become a Baron. Or, the Bortai Sirk may be why the whole clan is so untrusting of outsiders and paying a penance of self-exile and self-denial.

Several good ideas there Jeff! I appreciate you pitching in alot. In some ways it might be useful to consider the DA series and the D20 series parallell realities. Most events and elements will be similar, but may occur at different points in time. All the options you list are usable. Not really sure which one I'd go for at the moment...
