Indeed. Plains indians had rifles for about half as long as they had horses, so technologicaly speaking, they wouldn't be a good model. In my head I see the warrior ethos, counting coup, and maybe facepaint being things that would be present in a "horseclans" type culture if influenced by Native Americans. The teepee, because it is so eminently practical and transportable would be the likely form of shelter. Beyond that.....
