As I have commented often, the problem with published BM canon is that it is overloaded with things happening too soon.

I see your point here. Otherwise I might have suggested moving this split forward in time to the conflict with the Temple of Id.

IMC, the Black Queen is called "The Willow Queen", and it is implied that the Westryn are slowly transforming their race into tieflings.
