HackMoor 2018/04/26 The Passing of Aerys
#1
Games are on Thursday nights sometime after 6:30PM at World's Best Comics, 9714 Warwick Blvd Newport News, Virginia 23601.

We had our staple steak and mozz pizza again.

Map attached. Includes prior session on this level.

PART 1.

++++ START OF SESSION ++++

The session picked up at the beginning of the hallway with fourteen doors spaced evenly ten feet apart, each one adorned with the statue of a gargoyle on top. The party methodically opened each door to ten foot by ten foot chambers, finding in each one a specific implement of torture. Chains, whips, pillories, racks, iron maidens, et cetera. These rooms were either the domain of one particularly twisted individual or lifted from the ten most popular things to do in a Maastricht tourism guide.

After these fourteen doors the hall skipped ten more feet and there were two more doors. Turning left they found a survivor, a miserable wretch half starved fighter who only survived with the help of a magical Ioun stone that conjured up bad food from who knows where. Said he'd been there since captured by the Bloody Duke since the last Blackmoor Dungeon Festival and for some reason been ignored for most of a year. He only wanted to get out of there. The party wasn't going to escort him nor give him the password to get past Funk III's trapped passage so they kept him.

On the other side of the hall where kept humanoid body parts, the purpose of which became obvious, when they had to fight the Flesh Golems in the next room.

Speaking of which, at the end of the hall, it opened up in to a thirty by thirty foot room in each corner stood a Flesh Golem, whose only response to light was "Fire Bad", and commenced to attack, thus blocking the singular door behind them. The fight seemed to be going rather well for the party as they got the advantage early on. But after the first round came battle cries from the back as several of the Gargoyles above the torture room doors animated and attacked the party's rear guard.

Aerys who just happened to be in the back, took battle damage fairly quickly, Since Gargoyles have multiple attacks per round, she was brought down to negative seven hit points and was considered "dying", when the Gargoyle's last attack added insult to injury and turned her to stone. (A special attack by Gargoyle Lords which these happened to be.)

A few more rounds of this and the Golems and Gargoyle Lords were finally defeated and the party had to decide (next session) what to do with Aerys. At least being turned to stone saved them the prospect of having to give her a proper burial.
