Most definitely great advice about focusing on the manuscript first. I've fallen into the trap of working on all aspects at the same time before; unless you are intimately aware of the subject it can bog down real quick. The first draft will definitely have minimal formatting. Then, I expect a few passes of cleaning it up and fixing any issues that may arise. I'm planning on getting the text in "final form" before worrying about art, layout, etc. the important thing is getting the text right at this point.
