There was a nasty weapon in the video game Oni, the mercury bow, a supercooled sliver of mercury flung fom a rifle-length rail gun... high velocity to penetrate all but the toughest armors, and then the mercury liquefied when warmed to body temperature, resulting in nasty poisoning.... :twisted:

Interesting. Perhaps a mercury bow is something we could introduce into Blackmoor games as well? Perhaps this time as an actual bow?

I read up on the historical use of Mercury and it seems the element goes way back in use, back to the ancient Egyptians. Old alchemists believed it was the original metal from which other metals were based. This is especially interesting given Blackmoor's unusual cosmology with the Plane of Metal being believed to be one of the Elemental Planes.
