Like, DC has remained popular even with casual fans (like me) simply because from time to time, they let Tim Sale, Frank Miller, or Mike Mignola
do crazy stuff with their characters. Marvel sort of loses out on that.
While I enjoyed such miniseries from DC, what I liked about Marvel (at least back in the 80s) was that they had their high quality storylines integrated into their main series, instead of as alternative reality type things.
That said, the Ultimates lines were an attempt at something similar by Marvel, as were things like the more recent Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon (awesome).
With DC, I did enjoy "the artsy lines" as well as many of the Vertigo Titles beginning with The Sandman, but generally felt the more main stream stuff was too weak.
Quote:That said, Captain America was probably the only superhero movie I truly liked, so, Disney better deliver with the sequel.
I actually felt that Captain America was the weakest movie in the Avengers family (not counting the Hulks), but it was still enjoyable. Also, the character has a lot more potential than has been delivered for him in the two movies with him so far. I'd love for them to delve more into the Hero Out of Time concept as well as more WWII flashbacks!
