In fact, my only exposure to DC has always been through things like Frank Miller's Dark Knight. Marvel should really go for that, especially as they are happy to have all these alternative universes so it doesn't matter what happens to the characters. Actually, DC could have gone further with the concept - I always wondered how Watchmen would have turned out if they'd let Alan Moore play with some real DC characters.
