[Movie] Captain America: Winter Soldier in 2014

I was a huge Marvel fan as a kid. I grew up on the Hulk, Spiderman, Micronauts and Godzilla before switching over to everyone's favorite Cimmerian at 11, but I remember those days fondly. I could never really get into the DC heroes for some reason and if I'm honest I don't suppose I ever really tried that hard with such a great stable of characters available from Marvel. My only real contact with Captain America was an issue of What If? where he crossed paths with Conan through some sort of inter-dimensional portal, but I love the concept behind him and probably should check out some of those old issues sometime. The movie sounds like another great time from the current stream of Marvel hero movie reboots

Cool,
I had the same experience with Marvel vs DC, in that the Marvel characters simply appealed more to me. As with a lot of people, the X-Men quickly became my favorites, although I enjoyed Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers as well. These were the days when Christ Claremont and John Byrne were doing X-Men and Frank Miller did things like Wolverine (and Daredevil).

More recently I really enjoyed the first couple of TPs of the Ultimates, which the Avengers movie is closely connected to. This is where they started having Nick Fury look like Samuel Jackson. In this series I like how they emphasized Captain America's 1940s sense of ethics coming into clash with the 20th Century. I also liked how the first issues stayed vague on whether Thor was a God or not with different characters having different theories about where he came from.
