Part II The Races of Thonia
Many different races live within the borders of the Empire. However, the general attitude of the Empire seems to be one of clear discrimination against non-humans. This has caused many non-humans to leave the Empire for other regions.
Human, Thonian & High Thonian
These make up the dominant human population in the Empire. As described in Dave Arneson’s Blackmoor CS.
Human, Peshwah
These horsemen live along the northern border regions of Thonia and are normally considered to be enemies of the Empire. As described in Dave Arneson’s Blackmoor CS.
Human, Kurgan
Related to the Peshwah, these grim horsemen make their home in the Eastern Plains Province.
Human, Mirakosian
These brown skinned humans dominate the Provinces of Mirakos and Salik. They are known as both desert nomads and sailors and their blades a respected across the Empire.
Human, Bolger
Bolgers are dark skinned humans. Many hail from the Jungle Realms of Tangor, though the Province of Bolgerie has become a part of the Empire.
Dwarf
Dwarves are rare in the Empire, but found in some of the mountain ranges. They are most common in The Rand and in Bleakwood.
Elf
Elves of Thonia are similar to the Cumasti Elves of the North and recognize Menander Ithamis as their true King. While many Elves have abandoned the empire, there are considerable elven populations in the Grey Woods and in Cirkhosia.
Gnome
Gnomes are found throughout the Empire but mostly in the big cities. They often find work as gold smiths, tinkerers or clockmakers.
Halfling (Common & Docrae)
Halflings are very rare in the Empire, and there are no major Halfling settlements. Halfling Jesters have become popular among the nobility so this is the most common place to find Halflings. There are no Docrae in the Thonian Empire.
Catfolk
Catfolk, or Rakasta are found in many provinces of the Empire, though they are forced to live on the fringes of society.
Hawkmen
This race is found in many of the mountain ranges of Thonia. See the Players Guide to the Wilderlands for details.
Beastmen Races (Beastmen, Orcs, Half-Orcs, Goblinoids)
Believed to originate in the far north, these races are only known in the northernmost provinces. Trolls, Ogres and Giants are much more common, as are Undead.
