Hello

I just wanted to say hello and announce my presence here. I have just recently (in the past year) gained interest in Blackmoor. I hope to meet those of you I don't know yet and discuss this setting.

Big Grin Hi Julian!

In your case the most interesting question for me: Which ruleset would you use? Smile

Also, to understand most of the things we are discussing,
you might want to start reading this here:

(We need really a BM beginners' FAQ.)

I have a battered copy of the FFC.

I'm pretty much an OD&D/Swords and Wizardry person. I do want to get Dragons at Dawn though.

Cool enough! Smile

I strongly recommend to read both David Ritchie's and my own guide to BM, then. The FFC alone is way too few to run a campaign there that would make sense (holy-water-breathing horses, exploding apples, etc).

Also, I strongly recommend you to get DA1 and the free Supplement II pdf. With that, you really don't need anything more. Smile

I may have those. I bought some of the pdf's when it was announced sales would stop. I know I have the whole OD&D run but I am not sure about the DA series. BTW, do you have links to the guides you mentioned?

If you go here there's lots of cool stuff, including "The Maiden's Blackmoor" and "OD&D Supplement II".

Not sure if David Ritchie's guide is on there though.

Welcome Julian! Smile

I think the others are getting David Ritchie confused with David Ross. David Ritchie co-authored the DA series of modules with Dave Arneson.

David Ross is a legendary Blackmoor fan who did some impressive research on the pre-3E Blackmoor source material. It can be found here:
