[5E] Classes for Blackmoor?
#11
IMHO 5E Blackmoor should be mostly classic Blackmoor with sidebars including information for the newer stuff. A sidebar for each of the other newer races and options would be fine. Let each DM decide what he wants to use but have some limited direction for them if they do want to use it.

Here's a compilation of the Classes and their "paths", and how they might be adapted to Blackmoor.

Barbarian: Skandaharians, Peshwa or Afridhi would be especially suited for this. Westryn Elves could sometimes be Barbarians. Also, whatever culture Marfeldt is from.
  • Path of the Berserker: This type of Barbarians are most commonly found in the Skandaharian Jarldoms.
  • Path of the Totem Warrior: These would be perfect for the Peshwa and perhaps the Westryn Elves.
Bard: Music and storytellers fit just about anywhere.
  • College of Lore: These could fit about anywhere. The Thonian College of Music would be a good fit for these.
  • College of Valor: These could be an ideal fit for Skandaharian Skalds.
Cleric: Clerics can be found in all lands and cultures.
Druid: Druids can be found anywhere, though the Vales
  • Circle of Land: This is the most common type of druid.
    • Arctic: Skandaharian Lands
    • Coast: Archlis, Jackport
    • Desert: The Desert Realm, south of Thonia.
    • Forest: Redwood, Westryn Realm
    • Grassland: Plains of Hak
    • Mountain: Dragon Hills, Crystal Peaks, Stormkiller Mountains
    • Swamp: The Dismal Swamp
    • Underdark: Below Blackmoor
  • Circle of the Moon:
Fighter: Fighters are found anywhere.
  • Champion:
  • Battle Master:
  • Eldritch Knight: A good model for Arcane Warriors?
Monk: Monks can hail from any race or culture. The Peshwa have many monks. The Monks of the Fallen Star belong here.
  • Way of the Open Hand
  • Way of Shadow
  • Way of the Four Elements: Sounds appropriate for elves?
Paladin: Paladins can come from many cultures and races. Blackmoor (Newgate) is a likely candidate. Replacement for the FFC's "Crusaders".
  • Oath of Devotion
  • Oath of the Ancients:
  • Oath of Vengance
Ranger: Good for elves, Valemen and Peshwa Horse Lords.
  • Hunter
  • Beast Master
Rogue. Rogues are found in most realms, though Vestfold and Maus are good homes for Rogues.
  • Thief: The most common variant of Rogues.
  • Assassin: There is an Assasins Guild in Mohacs (Thonia)
  • Arcane Trickster: More common among elves?
Sorcerer: Sorcerers are hunted by the Wizards Cabal.
  • Draconic Bloodline: Descendants of the Dragon Gods.
  • Wild Magic: Gain magic by the powerful energies permeating the Black Rock of Blackmoor's ground.
Warlock:
  • Pact of the Archfey: Servants of the Ephemeral Realm
  • Pact of The Fiend: Those who have made pacts with the "Balrogs" in the service of the Egg.
  • Pact of the Great Old One: Pact with the Egg of Coot. As suggested by RobJN.
Wizard: Most mages in the tradition of Skelfer are Wizards. They are trained by the Wizards Cabal.

This is work in progress. Comments and input is welcome!

You could always take out the Sorcerer Class, rename the warlock to Sorcerer. I think Warlocks fit what Blackmoor Sorcerers were meant to be.

It's a thought anyway.
