I'm interested to see what is coming but, it seems a bit early to form an opinion on the coming game. I do hope this will open up new doors for Blackmoor.

While I personally don't think the setting will see yet another remake, or whatever,
I sincerely hope the new game brings brings a renewed OGL, not "just" the GSL.
And I hope they give D&D a bit of its personality back, which means, either return to support Greyhawk,
a sane FR, or another of their big trademark settings.

The problem that I see with this is that too many people have closed minds on the topic. I've been looking at the posts on the WotC boards and so many posters are angry and seem to have a "my edition or nothing" attitude. If gamers won't compromise on this, we won't have a successful 5E.
I own and have played virtually every D&D edition ever produced and I see some good points and bad points to every edition. A clever design team ought to be able to find some good stuff from each edition, cobble together a game based on the best of all worlds, and end up with a decent product. However, if they lean too heavily on either AD&D or 4E they will continue to spllit the market. Has to be some middle ground somewhere.

The thing, is, do the GAMERS have to change their attitude?
I dislike the nazi attitude of some basement-dwelling, internet heroes as much as any sane person,
but I have to say: Wizbro is trying to sell me product, nothing more.
If they want me to like it, it's their effort to do.
If you don't mind me giving my daily morning rant, I'll go on and say that I tremendously dislike this kind of marketing
that seems very particular to the US market:
If a product is part of an established brand, the parent company is very prone to tell their customers that not their product has to improve, but the CUSTOMERS.
So done, for example, the new, horridly bad Iphone 4s.
Fable III.
The Playstation Network.
Any movie Martin Scorsese has done since "Raging Bull".
Blue Mountain Dew.
Starbuck's toasted cookies.
Brock Lesnar.
And any book that ridiculously hot Mormon chick with the sparkle fetish has written.
And, so done, with 4e.
Anybody trying to contradict me, buy that adventure path Wizbro put out.
Try to run it BTB.
And then point to any book on the market that you think delivers better. Should be a few.
Like, to quote a wise man who schooled me on political correctness:
3e was "different". 4e was "special".
Edited for language, Havard
