Fair warning, I haven't tried this approach, yet.
With that said, how about this.
Microlite74 extended and a bit from
Dark Dungeons ( Chapters 13 and 14 and a bit from Chapter 8 ). This kinda mimics what DA ran as Dustin Clingman said in another thread,
Quote:"While Dave does run 3e, he also still hangs on to the Rules Cyclopedia. I think I heard him say they will rip it from his cold dead hands (or something like that... ).
"
ML74 gives you access to all that D20 material and DD fills in rules for Strongholds/Dominions and Mass Combat respectively. Also ML74 and DD are fully OGL. You are free to download a copy or
donate some cash to Randalls wifes cancer fund for ML74 or
buy a copy of DD at Lulu.
However it goes and whatever you choose, keep us posted.
Oh yeah, and Happy Holidays to all :!:
I wonder if there's beer on the sun?

I find the D20 Dave Arneson's Blackmoor Sourcebook very easy to use with other editions/systems because of the way the information is organized. I am currently using it with my Savage Worlds Blackmoor campaign.

Hmmm. I tried Savage Worlds and just never got into the game system much.
1. I always heard it was "rules lite" and it didn't seem that way to me.
2. I guess I'm more of a fan of levels and SW clearly is totally about the skills.
However, I respect your opinion on gaming and would be interested in knowing how SW is working out for you in a Blackmoor game.
I agree, SW is not rules lite. Its not rules heavy either, but somewhere in between. However it is very easy to learn, and runs fairly quickly with low prep time from the GM. These are some of my draws to the game.
SW does have levels, but they are toned down a bit. More importantly its not a class based system. While there are remnants of classes there, there is nothing preventing your wizard to pick up armor and learn how to wield a sword. SW provides an experience that is different from D&D, but still retains the action paced, heroic feel that I think is important for D&D settings.
In the case of Blackmoor I also like that it has rules for "weird science" and technology as well as magic and fantasy races.
Quote:Did you put much SW-specific information together for the campaign, or do you just "wing it"?
So far I have mostly been winging it. The most important thing is to determine which Edges/Hindrances and Skills are available in the campaign. I might try to write down something more definite later on, both for my own benefit and to share with others.

I know its been years but I run Pathfinder almost exclusively now(still collect and want to play Classic D&D/Swords and Wizardry but don't get to play them) and once again I find Blackmoor ever in my thoughts.
I'm tired of Adventure Paths, tired of modern adventures for the most part.
So my idea to bring my Pathfinder game to Blackmoor is this.
My party is currently being hurled through space and time as the result of the end of our last game. Now this WAS expected to drop them right where they wanted to be in the standard game world at around the time they wanted.
Instead I'm going to drop them into the waters just outside Blackmoor city! They will have no fast way to get back and are rather low of funds.
My idea is to run The Dungeons of Castle Blackmoor mixed in with my own levels as well as Rappan Athuk(the latest Pathfinder version). For breaks I will let them explore the city and countryside and eventually pit them against the machinations of The Egg of Coot!
