(1) I look at the D&D LBB and see the following names credited:
* Men & Magic (Gygax & Arenson)
* Monsters & Treasure (Gygax & Arneson)
* The Underworld & Wilderness Adventures (Gygax & Arneson)
* Greyhawk (Gygax & Kuntz)
* Blackmoor (Arneson)
* Eldritch Wizardry (Gygax & Blume)
* Gods, Demi-gods & Heroes (Kuntz & Ward)
That's 5 names (Gygax, Arneson, Kuntz, Blume, Ward) and Brian Blume is one of them. While you can argue "who did what" all you like, that's pretty select company.
(2) My "big three" RPGs that I played in the 1970's were OD&D and Metamorphosis Alpha and Boot Hill. Blume was one of the main authors of Boot Hill.
I don't know anything about behind-the-scenes stuff at TSR, but to me Brian Blume did some pretty heavy lifting in the early days of games I love most.
Just a few coppers.
