There is this blog that I've been reading for the last decade or so. Rumor has it the author is ugly as an ogre's grandmother, but the content itself is pretty interesting if you're into all things Blackmoor. :wink:

Looks more like "generic steampunk fantasy" to me, to be honest. I'd think "Iron Kingdoms" before I'd think BM.

Thanks for digging these oout for me. I knew I had written about Numeria, but I didn't have my computer handy and didn't have time to do a proper search.

They are definitely doing their own thing with Numeria, but at its heart I am convinced it is a Blackmoor homage. My impression is that Numeria is what would happen if The Egg of Coot and the Wizards Cabal joined forces and took over Blackmoor.

Like Greyhawk, it assumes a dark ruler for Blackmoor/Numeria, but this is similar to the situation Blackmoor was in when Gygax adventured near the City of the Gods. I think that is why that stuck.

I've been toying with the idea of a Golarion campaign where the Numerians are the good guys.

Agreed.

And even if he didn't I think it is very difficult to see anyone involved in D&D after the release of Supplement II using any type of Frog God without expecting associations to Dave Arneson's work. I might make an exception for Bob Bledsaw's introduction of Tsathoggua into the Wilderlands, but then again knowing how close he and Dave were, perhaps not.

In any case, Frog God Games rereleased Necromancer Games' Tomb of Abysthor and Clark Peterson confirmed that this one included a homage to Supplement II.
