Blackmoor: "Origin of D&D" Timeline
#1
http://www.timetoast.com/timelines/790386

A timeline in progress by the admin of the Castle Blackmoor FB page. It has generated quite a bit of discussion about dates etc. Clearly this is a work in progress though so I would not be surprised if some dates are changed as more research is being done.

There may be some interesting stuff there, but the "put your mouse on the dot" format gives me fits. Why can't they make a regular timeline like everyone else:

date xx = something happens
date xy = something else happens
etc.

I don't know what to think about some of their dates. They claim to have been researched, but they don't seem to match up with some of the dates I've heard quoted for a long time. For example, I've heard November 1973 cited as pre-OD&D and January 1974 as first printing.

Yeah. Lots of question marks, with these recent events, in general.

- And, well, yes, a normal, Excel- or Word-based timeline would have been way better.

More current timeline:

And likely more timelines once we have more information gathered for them
