Temlin = Verthandi? = Khoronus???
#1
I was reading about the "missing" immortal Verthandi (allegedly absorbed by Skuld or by the Dimensional Vortex) and I found that he is/was ANOTHER god of Time / Time Travel (I didn't remember this!).

I also remember Havard's three threads involving Temlin's murder (http://www.blackmoor.mystara.us/forums/v...=49&t=2908, http://www.blackmoor.mystara.us/forums/v...=49&t=2920 and http://www.blackmoor.mystara.us/forums/v...=49&t=2986)

I can see too many similitudes between Verthandi, Temlin and perhaps even Khoronus to think it can be just a coincidence.... but there are too many missing details for me to properly solve the puzzle and find all the links between the three of them.

Any guesses?

Verthandi is a goddess in Norse mythology (and in anime), so it's hard for me to think of her as a male. I prefer to think of that as a mistake, or perhaps an alternate guise or aspect. She's one of the three fates, as old as Destiny itself. She might be the same as the Greek Lanchesis.

Wikipedia says, in its article on the Three Fates: "Later in the Orphic cosmogony, first came Thesis (Disposer), whose ineflable nature is unexpressed. Ananke (necessity) is the primeval goddess of inevitability who is entwined with the time-god Chronos, at the very beginning of time. They represented the cosmic forces of Fate and Time, and they were called sometimes to control the fates of the gods. The three Moirai [Fates] are daughters of Ananke."

Maybe I'm just lost, but I can't believe there is no connection at all between them, given that they are all gods of Time...

Since Time is a Sphere in the Mentzer Cosmology, all Immortals within that Sphere would have some sort of connection between them.

For instance, it is suspected that Khoronus travelled back in time and sponsored himself to Immortality, but we don't know that for a fact. This could be one way to fit Verthandi in if you wanted to Smile

PS: I am moving this thread to the Mystara Forum since it involves highly Mystara-specific lore. Smile

The campaign in the Duchy of the Peaks published in Threshold #20 (viewtopic.php?f=52&t=8830) hints at some kind of connection between the gods of Time as well...
