#1
Hi Folks,

I'm pleased to announce (at last) that GazBC 1, The Shimmering Lands DM's Guide is now available! This is an alpha version, and I would love to get feedback. The Players Guide will follow shortly.

GazBC 1, The Shimmering Lands DM's Guide
The accompanying map can be found here:
Outer World: Shimmering Lands 2300 BC, 8 miles per hex

For those of you who don't know, the Mystara BC 2300 setting is set roughly 700 years after the destruction of Blackmoor (and the Great Rain of Fire). If you want to learn more about the setting, check out some of the threads in the Mystara BC 2300 forums at The Piazza!

Thanks for posting these here Chimpman!

As I mentioned elsewhere, I am really enjoying this piece of work. I am amazed at the kind of effort you have put into this book and the greateer BC2300 project. Those of you who are new to this setting can do much worse than check out the free downloads Chimpman linked too.

I especially like the connections we created between the Dwarves of the Shimmering Lands and the Blackmoor Vales Campaign Smile

A quick comment: find a way to manage the copyrights and make it a commercial product.

You've got the gift!

Currently, your Mystara 2300BC is a bible of my campaign. One of the characters is a chronomancer from the 1990's 2nd ed. product of the same name. The party is visiting several Mystara/Blackmoor time periods and your material ROCKS!

Had to re-read this, as I thought you'd initially said "One of the characters is a chronomancer from the 1990s..." Confusedhock:

In the midst of time-hopping through Mystaran history in some writing projects of my own, now I want to know about your campaign, jonklement Big Grin

Well that would be weird if he was from the 1990's, but no, just the Chronomancer product from the 1990's. LOL!

I'm 45 and my game goes all the way back to my high school years (with certain time periods off here and there).

The chronomancer character is actually played by my 14-year-old son.

I've played every edition (except 4th) all the way back to the 1980's, so I convert everything from the old books to whatever edition is in favor at the time. My sons marvel that Armor Class used to start at 10 and go down instead of starting at 10 and be going up.

As a teenager, I was dragged to Mystara kicking and screaming because it was marketed back then as "D & D" and I, of course, wanted to play "AD & D". But, the group I was invested in socially did "Gazeteer World" as it was called back then and so I played with them and my eyes were opened. I will always believe that was a HUGE marketing mistake in branding D & D vs. AD & D that caused Mystara to lose out on the proper level of exposure it deserved and still deserves.

How is your table going?

Alas, D&D and AD&D were separated from a necessity of business and legal snarls.

My gaming table is pretty much relegated to the forums here at the Comeback Inn these days, where I'm running a small play by post set in the years before the Great Rain of Fire.
