Gaderon will cast a fireball at the skeletons to the party's left (facing Eilkhan).

Sol will hold his position drawing Tizona and say "Elmo, we will fight them here when they come to us. Don't charge them."

Kherim gets his Horn of Blasting and blows it to create a sonic wave that might encompass all the skeletons.

Ahi casts a Spell of Prayer on the party, and says, if still possible: "let's retreat to the stairs, quickly!"


The reasoning is that we should not allow the skeletons to attack from both sides.

Much to your dismay, for whatever reasons neither Gaderon's fireball nor the winding of Kherim's magical horn has any effect upon the advancing copper skeletons.

Eilkhan hurries back to the stairs, readying her shortbow as she does so. Standing on the stairs, Ivid has a clear line of fire and loses a volley of three magical arrows of +1 quality at one of the advancing undead:
Thanks to his skills and Ahi's prayer, the first two should have been good hits, but score no damage at all! Witnessing Ivid's failure, I suppose that Eilkhan reconsiders and doesn't shoot arrows right now.

Elmo, still a bit shaky from the curse inflicted on him, looks back and forth between Sol and Ahi and grasps his axe and shield tighter. "Attack or retreat - what is it, Sol?"

Moving methodically and holding their formation like the disciplined troops the likely were in the past days of their life, the copper skeletons close in on you, with the smell of ozone and the crackling of powerful electrical energies getting stronger as they do so. They quickly form a second rank in places as the space gets more restricted for them while they move forward. As they reach a point about 10 feet away from you, they all suddenly release an arc of lightning, similar to a lightning bolt, from the tip of their shortspears at you!

Except for Eilkhan and Ivid, everyone gets hit by at least two lightning bolts, Ahi and Elmo getting hit by three.

Please make the appropriate number of ST's. Take into account the effect of the prayer spell that gives you a bonus of +1, plus possible DEX and magic item bonusses. Kherim's protection from evil ST bonus doesn't work here, as the copper skeletons aren't evil. Finally, state your actions for round 2.

Ivid will try to focus his arrows on the enemies attacking Elmo.

His friend has suffered enough, and the bowman can't be sure how the fighter will hold up against more attacks.

Sol says "Let's fall back to the base of the stairs to limit our front. Gaderon and Ahi move back. Elmo follow them and then I will move back next to Kherim."

Gaderon will move immediately back to the stairs and try to find a place out of the way where he can see what is happening.
[OOC: Does the displacer cloak have any affect on the lightning? I didn't include that, since it didn't affect the first hit. ST: 22, 25, 19]

Sol will wait for the others to pull back to the steps and back peddle until he is on Kherim's right at the base of the stairs. [OOC: ST: 11, 20, 12]

Ok, then Kherim will stand near Ahi while the cleric tries to turn. Kherim will try to turn also himself (that is available to paladins, isn't it?)

Round 2

Hit by the small bolts of lightning that emerge from the skeletons' spears, the party hastily retreats to the stairs and builds up a line of defense there, with Ahi, Kherim, and Sol in the front. Sol suffers no damage at all from the electricity because his ring of spell turning completely reflects the lightnings back upon the attackers (scoring no damage there).

OOC: Damage is as follows: Eilkhan: 6; Ivid: 3; Ahi: 13; Kherim: 7; Gaderon: 4; Elmo: 6

IC: As the skeletons close in for melee, Ahi and Kherim step forward for a turning attempt, but the moment that they focus on the skeletons and view them from a close distance, both realize that these things are no undead at all, but obviously metallic constructs of a sorts, their bodies and skulls made of solid copper instead of human bones. As a result, both turning attempts fail.

Ivid continues to shoot arrows at the copper skeletons, still to no effect.

Your hair rises because of the powerful electrical auras that surround the skeletons, and the smell of ozone in the air gets strong and heavy as they give up their spear and shield phalanx due to the cramped conditions at the foot of the stairs and form several rows of attackers before you. Kherim, Ahi, and Sol now have direct opponents who attack with their spears.

Ahi gets hit for a total of 14 damage, 10 from the spear and 4 from the electricity that surges through its weapon.
Sol also must take a stab from a spear and suffers 10 points of damage. Again, the electricity is reflected by his ring.
Kherim manages to slam aside the attacker's spear, but his shield is a perfect conductor, and the contact with spear alone causes an electric discharge for 2 points of damage.

The three copper skeletons in the second row unleash another lightning bolt at Ahi, Kherim and Sol.

OOC: Please make anoher ST for Ahi, Kherim, and Sol, and state your actions for round 3.
