Ahi says to Eilkhan

"Perhaps you should go along first, with your ring and boots. Try to reach view of the voices and in the last place out of their sight, test if the ground is still soft. Perhaps you can use a pole or something for that. If you can't find anything conclusive, I can try to dispel this magic."

"Ok, I'll try that." The rogue activates her ring of invisibilty and uses the boots to get across the mud and closer to the odd voices.

With the help of the magical boots, Eilkhan gently floats towards the corner and peers around it. On a square pedestal at the end of the corridor, about 25 feet ahead, stands a large and rounded urn made of brass, covered with etchings and colorful inlays of turquoise. The urn is open and - much to Eilkhan's rising discomfiture - the weird murmuring clearly comes from within it.

Eilkhan comes back to the two men. She is whispering. "All right, there is an urn and the murmuring is coming from within. It made my skin crawl and I do not want to go any closer. That probably means it is really a bad bad evil thing. Maybe we need to close the urn or destroy it?"

Gaderon, standing behind Ahi and Kherim, quietly offers "I could use a disintigrate spell on it. I would need the boots to get close enough without getting stuck in the mire."

Eilkhan removes Gaderon's boots and hands them over. She then dons her boots. "All right.... have fun in that evil place, pal."

Gaderon will put on the boots of levitation and gather together the spell components for the disintegrate spell before moving down the hall to the corner. Once in position, he will cast a disintegrate spell on the urn. [6th level spell]

Kherim: "We should not let Gaderon walk in alone. Something may happen, the urn or whatever is inside may be resistant or so. I think we should follow".

Ahi: "I'll try to dispel this effect on the floor. Then we can all go, if this is magic, that is."

Ahi casts Dispel Magic. Does that require a roll?

OOC: Dispel Magic requires a die roll, but I make those in secret as the result could give away the strength of the magic involved.

IC: Ahi's spell successfully removes the magic from the ground and returns it back to solid rock. This doesn't go unnoticed though as the murmuring from within the brass urn suddenly stops and is replaced by the sound as if some goo or slush starts to stir within the urn.

OOC: Please make an initiative roll for Gaderon, Greg, to see whether he's able to cast disintegrate before, well, "something" happens...

OOC: Got your email, Greg.

IC:Gaderon's disintegrate spell works remarkably well, and the urn vanishes immediately, but not so its content. Out of it flows a disgusting and amorphous mass of human flesh, covered by countless madly glaring eyes of different size and hundreds of sucker-like mouths that are ringed by rows of needle-sharp looking teeth. As it flows from the pedestal towards you in a sickly slurping movement, you notice that the ground starts getting soft again and your feet begin to sink in. Also, the creature starts to emit a cacophonous babble that is both deafening and confusing... (OOC: Everyone make a ST vs magic please. WIS bonuses can be applied, as well as bonuses from magic items, if any. Otherwise, please make your statements for the first round of combat.)
