Kherim quickly reviews his options in his mind. Spells are out of the question, and the horn does not really seem useful here. Then, as he looks at Sol and understands his intention, he decides to help him as much as possible, by concentrating on getting the full attention of the demon.

He attacks.

I hope it's at least enough to draw attention, as I doubt I'll hit with these values:

Attack: 11, 10, 14
Damage: 10, 14, 15

[OOC:]
ST against Para: 14
Everyone within 10' of Kherim also has +2 in the save, btw

Round 3: The demon wins inititative.

The stench that the creature exudes is so awful that you all start retching and your eyes start to water.

OOC: Even though everybody made the ST, the stink is so bad that all attack and damage rolls are reduced for another -2, for a total of now -4.

With a wave of its taloned hand, the demon conjures up a roaring wall of fire in the doorway, sealing off the room's exit. Gaderon, standing right in front of it, immediately takes 6 points of damage from the intense heat. Ivid, lying partially in the doorway and trying to get back on his feet, takes full damage from the fire - 18 hit points.

Immediately thereafter, the demon tries to grab another figurine on the table, but hits the wall of force instead.

That very same wall of force unfortunately also means a painful and unexpected stop for Sol, who crashes headlong into it as he dives under the table to get behind it.
OOC: That means 2 points of damage, a bruise, and a laughing DM. :D

With his first attempt of turning having been a failure, Ahi tries another spell, hoping he gets the words out right in spite of the drone in his head, but again he fumbles and the spell fails.

Kherim desperately tries to kill the demon, but he's now even more disabled because of the horrid stench, and his attacks are too weak and imprecise to hit.

[Edited due to the revelation in the OOC thread that Sol's attempt to get behind the demon was successful]

Sol will stand up behind the demon. As he rises he will scan the area for the hammer. If it is near he will retrieve it and attack with it, otherwise he will resume meleeing with the demon using his sword. He is going for the hammer rather than his sword because of the perceived effect it had when he threw it earlier.

Three Attacks (adjusted, assuming +1 for sword and -4 for stench): 11/7, 9/4, & 7/6

Not to good rolling. If he is using the hammer take an additional -3 but add whatever the hammers bonus is.

Round 4: The demon wins initiative.

Furiously, the demon strikes at Kherim again, but the paladin easily blocks two of its attacks and only suffers a minor wound from a talon sweep (DAM 3).

Severely weakened, Kherim's first attack misses completely, but he manages to stab the creature with his second blow, although only for a meager 6 points of damage.

Then Sol stands up behind the demon, holding the magical hammer in his hands. He's only able to strike twice with it, not being as proficient with it as with his sword, and the unfamiliar weapon plus his weakness and the strong desire to vomit makes him miss both times.

Ahi's second try of casting a disc of concordant opposition is finally successful (). He hurls the gleaming disc at the demon, but it fizzles without any effect, showing to the wise cleric that the creature must have a truly high magic resistance.

While Ivid and Eilkhan do nothing this round, Gaderon successfully dispels the demon's wall of fire (), opening the doorway again.

At the end of this round, the effect from the demon's unholy word, cast three rounds ago, ends. Your heads clear again, and now there's only the stench (and the demon) to be fought with.

Two attack rolls (I am lost on the adjustments, so the only one applied was +1 to DD): 20/2, 10/8

Kherim hardens his resolve and strikes again, encouraged by Sol's presence at his side and decided to compensate his earlier misses.

Damage: 8, 12, 15

His results seem to be mixed.

Being hit a total of four times by Sol, Kherim, and Ivid for a massive amount of damage, the demon grunts and collapses on the floor, where his monstrous corpse quickly dissolves into a disgusting pool of bubbling slime.

OOC: The battle nets each of you a total of 6500 XPs.

Sol looks around with a bit of a smile on his face and turns back toward the table saying to the group "So, are we up to trying for the fist-sized golden scarab and the saffron-yellow cloak lying beneath it without touching the other figurines? Or should we push on to the next room?"

Does he have any idea how good the hammer really is after the fight?
