Elmo will once again draw back but if any of his arrows are magic he uses them in this instance cursing his quick fire last turn... Once he has moved to a cover position behind the pillar he will fire once more...

Ivid still shaking begins to turn such thoughts into his usual anger filled triad of cursing as he too will start to join Elmo drawing back and looking at his somewhat deplelted supply of Magical arrows he still readies them, and fires once his hand steadies...

Gaderon will draw back away from the foul thing, while going shakely into casting... Placing a metal ringed glove upon his hand and hoping to get the words out to the spell quickly but correctly.

Eilkhan fires her crossbow once, then twice!

Rolls sent, Natural 20 and a 10! I presume the 20 hits. Thus I got a total of 5.
Told Sir C to adjust if there is double damage or whatnot for the natural 20.

Ahi begins chanting once more to his deity and casts the spell Prayer! So we all get a +1 to attacks and saves,
while the demon lord gets the opposite.

Ok, so I update my rolls with the modifiers Sir Clarence gave. Those total, if I'm not mistaken, +6/+7, so the rolls for Kherim are:

22 / 10
14 / 13
21 / 12

Also, note all of you who are under Kherim's Protection from Evil the effects of this spell:

[...] It prevents bodily contacts by creatures of an enchanted or conjured nature such as aerial servants, demons, devils, djinn efreet, elementals, imps, invisible stalkers, night hags, quasits, salamanders, water weirds, wind walkers and xorn. [...]
Any and all attacks launched by evil creatures incur a penalty of -2 from dice rolls to-hit the protected creature and any saving throws caused by such attacks are made at +2 on the protected creature's dice.

Of course I have my doubts such a powerful creature as this demon will be wholly subject to the spell, namely on that part of preventing bodily contact, but the bonuses should still apply, I guess.

Round 2: Aldinach wins initiative.

It is obvious that the demon lord doesn't pay much attention to you - little creatures that you are in his eyes. Instead he fires another energy bolt, destroying another coffer (DAM 6 to Kherim and Sol from flying fragments), roaring:

"ALL YOUR EFFORTS WILL BE IN VAIN; MORTALS!"

Although her crossbow is magical, her bolts aren't, and Eilkhan can only watch in frustration how her perfect first shot is unable to penetrate the creature's skin.

Elmo comes to the same conclusion as Eilkhan, because his non-magical arrows score no damage at all.

Ivid on the other hand fires two of his best arrows at Aldinach, and one of them hits! (OOC: DAM 22 due to point blank range!)

Hacking at Aldinach from both sides, Sol's attack are still fruitless, while Kherim's blade cleaves into the creature twice (OOC: The 22 is a critical hit, which means triple damage for 30 hps! This sums up to a total of 42 hit points of damage to Aldinach from Kherim this round! :shock:)

Now the demon lord roars again, but this time in pain, and its glowing red eyes fix upon the paladin and Ivid (OOC: Please make another ST for Kherim and Ivid. WIS bonus applies, as well as the +2 from Kherim's protection from evil aura, but only for the paladin himself. The save is at -2 due to Aldinach's power.)

Then Ahi's prayer spell fills the entire area around the shrine, filling you with new strength and hope.

Finally Gaderon conjures up another one of the huge magical mailed fists, which immediately attacks the demon lord but fails to hit him! (OOC: Gaderon recognizes this as a natural magic resistance that protects the creature. He is unsure though whether this means that the fist is completely useless against this opponent, or whether it tests the magic resistance each time it attempts to strike.)

Eilkhan sears in frustration. Lowering the crossbow she activates her invisibility ring, disapearing from
view. She moves back going around the middle until she reaches the other side. Her intentions are to
sneak up on the demon to attempt a backstab. Once near Kherim she will try to pass him and get behind
the demon and backstab it then. She has no idea if it can see her invisible, but figures this is as good attempt
as any to help her comrades in arms.

Ahi will try to hit the demon with his magical rod if there is enough space for him and Sol in there, if not he'll hold and not do anything, as his spells are mostly useless against the demon.

Sending the rolls to Sir C as we speak. So Sir C I forgot to add the +1 from prayer so the 18 is a 19 and the 5 a 6.
If the 19 hits I do 5 damage, heh!

Elmo will take position guarding Ivid dropping his bow to the side and drawing his axe and shield.

Ivid will if he can fire his arrows at the demon, cursing and lamenting having to use them on so foul a creature.

Gaderon will try once more with his fist to see if he can overcome this resistance, while keeping his distance from it shouting out... "It has a resistance of some type to magics... Our spells may prove lessened against it!!!"

OOC: Ail: Any score above 20 has a chance to be a critical, the higher the roll, the higher the chance. :)


Round 3: The party wins initiative.

Transfixed by the gaze from the blood red eyes, Kherim and Ivid both freeze in motion, unable to think and move (OOC: Both are paralyzed for the next 4 rounds).

Concentrating on his spell, Gaderon batters the magical fist another time at the demon lord, but once again fails to overcome the magic resistance.

Invisible, Eilkhan hurries over to the other side of the shrine, only to see Kherim standing motionless. She figures that it might be difficult to squeeze past the unmoving paladin and to get behind the demon without being noticed. But then she has overcome more difficult situations in the past, and who knows whether this monster sees her anyway...

Now that two of his comrades are disabled, Sol attacks the demon lord even more determinedly, hitting him once for 18 points of damage.

Ahi steps forward and strikes at Aldinach with his Uas rod, hitting him for another 8 points of damage.

You all can see how some of the demon's wounds close due to regenerative powers, as Aldinach turns to the other side to gaze at the three standing there (OOC: Which now means a ST for Sol, Ahi and Gaderon. You have a ¨1 bonus because of the prayer spell, plus any WIS and possible magic item bonusses). He growls:

"MY TASK HERE IS NEARLY DONE, FOOLS! YOU CAN'T KEEP ME FROM DESTROYING WHAT YOU SEEK!"

With these words, another ivory coffer explodes into fragments, blasted by Aldinach's power. This time, no one gets hurt because it stands too far at the back of the shrine.
