Eilkhan likes Sol's idea. "Okay you do that. I'll try too if you miss."

Looking around at the others, Sol says "I think I will have to use the spear to press the button. Once you are all in the hallway, I will press the one on the left." With that he will wait for the others to reach relative safety before trying the button...

"Why don't you let me do it? I can get out of the way faster than you can if something happens, Sol."

Sol replies "Well, I can take more punishment if things go badly, but I will defer to you if you are more comfortable with taking the greatest risk. Would you like to use this spear?" If Eilkhan doesn't change her mind and go to the hall, Sol will offer her the spear and then move out into the hallway with the others, placing himself in the front rank with sword and dagger ready for whatever might appear.

Ahi casts Protection from Evil on Eilkhan before he moves into the hallway, "it may be of some help," he says shrugging.

OOC: is the Heroes feast still in effect?

Eilkahn smiles. "Yes but We need you more if there is a fight, not I." With that she turns and with the spear pushes the button on the left from the door. Tensing, she jumps back from the open doorway, tumbling away from the others five feet away.

The stone button yields easily, and for a few seconds nothing happens. Then you all hear a cracking sound as the silhouette of a doorway suddenly appears on the pillar, directly beneath the button. It seems to be cut out of the stone while you're looking at it, pieces of stone and mortar falling to the floor as it happens. After the door is complete, it swings open, revealing a narrow and cramped spiral staircase that leads upward.
