OOC: Still continuing without Mark.Round 5: The party wins initiative.
With a spectacular tumble,
Ivid brings himself into a closer position to the fiend and shoots his arrow, but misses the gourd-head of the creature (rolled a 7 for the attack).
While
Sol gets back up on his feet, the fiend uses his disadvantage for a free attack against him...
OOC: Now things turn out to be bad for poor Sol. The attack roll was a 20, and the follow-up d% roll was a 06 which means that it was a critical hit......The huge mace comes crashing down on him, and with a deafening clang hits Sol's shield that he holds up over his head, tearing a gaping hole in it. And although the now destroyed shield saved Sol from the brunt of the attack, the brutal power of it still causes 11 points of damage to him. And still, with his last bit of strength, the stout warrior manages to get back on his feet...
Then
Kherim is at his side and attacks furiously. All three blows from his scimitar hit the creature and cause terrible wounds for an incredible total of 35 points of damage.
Seeing the gate opening and dark and moving shapes appearing within its depths,
Gaderon quickly figures that the only chance to avoid this might be a successful attempt to dispel this planar-breaching magic. While casting his spell, he sends a silent prayer to Ptah, and one moment later the gate flickers and ceases to be.
OOC: You were quite lucky here guys because the d% roll was an excellent 18 for the dispel attempt. Asterion shoots an
acid arrow at the fiend, but misses him.
Ahi is unsure whether the fiend in the back is still turned or not. Somehow his clerical influence over it seems to have weakened, but then it's clearly not willing to enter combat again or to come any closer. As the gate has been closed by Gaderon, the cleric thus casts a
light spell at the eyes of the mace-wielding fiend but sees that it has no effect at all because he was obviously unable to overcome the magic resistance of the creature.
For a brief moment the face of the fiend with the mace distorts to a gruesome expression of pleasure as it witnesses the results of his attack against Sol, then it gets attacked by Kherim and howls in pain, now turning towards the paladin. While it swings its mace at him, Kherim notices that it silently conjures up a magical protection sphere of the same kind as his own, giving it more protection against future attacks. Every muscle in his arm hurts as he blocks the first swing of the huge mace with his shield, but the second attack hits him on the chest for 13 points of damage.
Gnashing its large teeth in frustration as it sees the gate close, the other fiend now turns towards you again. Obviously not daring to come any closer, it hurls another
fireball in the midst of your group.
OOC: The majority of you is protected against its effects due to Gaderon's minor globe of invulnerability. Not so Asterion, Sol and Kherim who have to make a saving throw each.
