Sol adds "I think I'm ready, open it!"

Opening this sarcophagus will be a lengthy procedure because the mortar will have to be chiseled out first. Plus the lid looks to be quite heavy, so perhaps more than person should do this.

OOC: Nice, so we have to dedicate some of our stronger fighter types to sheathe weapons and open up this jack-in-the-box? Sorry, Ahi's spider-sense is tingling, and by spider I mean paranoid! :)

"Hmm fellows, I wonder if we have any magic that can make this job easier, perhaps some sort of levitation that can lift it, and then drop it upon whatever fell creatures head that dwells inside?" Ahi will say.

I'm guessing even if we use magic, we will likely have to chisel the mortar. Clarence that's not something Spiritual Hammer can help with, that kind of fine work, is it?

EDIT: Forget that thought, traded my Spritual Hammers for Aid Spells...

Eilkhan and Sol are barely able to lift the incredibly heavy lid off the sarcophagus, but putting it down carefully is impossible for them and so they simply let it fall to the ground where it lands with a loud noise.

Inside the granite sarcophagus is just another sarcophagus, slightly smaller so that it just fits inside. This one is made of porphyry and looks as if it is every bit as heavy as the granite one. Its lid isn't mortared shut though.

"Sorry fellas but I want to be sure there are no surpises inside here, so give me a minute or two." Eilkhan proceeds as always, inspecting every nook and cranny for traps or surprises.

OOC: Sorry all for my absence. I should be regular now. I drank my metamucil!

IC: Approaching the smaller sarcophagus, sword and shield at the ready, the paladin watches Eilkhan go about her work. Even as she does so though, he seeks to feel for any presence of evil that might lie within.

OOC: casting detect evil on the inner sarcophagus in case there is a chance I can feel the presence of anything sentient and evil within. And if my detect trap still functions I will check with that as well.

Sol will prepare to lift the lid off of the sarcophagus, while he waits for the others to get
ready for whatever emerges from it. He will look around for something he can use like a
crowbar that might be in the area.

The careful examination of the second sarcophagus yields no result for Eilkhan. As far as she can tell, there are no traps here. Kherim, on the other hand, immediately notices an evil presence within the porphyry sarcophagus - it's a mindless evil, of the sort employed in animating remains.

OOC: The duration of the find traps spell has ended in the meantime.

Within the heaps of treasure that still lie untouched in the recesses of the chamber there's a massive war spear with gilded inlays in its shaft - most likely once a pharaoh's prized weapon - that could perhaps be used as a crowbar, thinks Sol.

OOC: just wanted to remind everyone that the benefits of the Heroe's Feast are still in effect: Immune to poison, fear, hopelessness and panic, +1 to attack rolls.

"Before we continue, now might be a time for some preparatory spells," Ahi offers, "does anyone, other than our esteemed Paladin need a Protection from Evil?" Unless the Paladin can cover us all, Prot from Evil adjusts the person who it's cast upon's enemies to hit by -2 and gives the person it's cast upon +2 in their saves from enemy attacks. "Or the benefits of an Aid spell from Neith?" Aid is an additional 1-8 hps, even above your normal max and another +1 to attack rolls. Sound good?

Hey Sir C there's no reason why I can't couple the Aid with the heroes feast, is there?
