OOC: Can Paladins Detect Evil at will, or is that a times/day function?

OOC: At will, though most inanimate objects do not radiate evil unless they are cursed (trapped) or have alignment such as intelligent swords. On the flip side, this whole temple probably radiates evil.

Chad's answer about the functioning of detect evil is correct. In addition, I also allow evil to be detected on items when they're dedicated to some evil faith.

To answer the other questions: There are no scenes painted on the walls, only prayers. My original posting was misleading, I'm sorry.

The cartouches only bear the Set Rahotep sign.

Kherim turns to Eilkhan, "I sense no trap has been laid for us here, but these seals may not be intended to keep us out so much as they are to keep something else in. We must use caution in breaking them. I leave you to the task."

The paladin raises his shield and scimitar and waits for what will happen next.

"What would the evil one want to keep trapped?" Ahi wonders allowed, then activates his talilsman. I do a True Sight scan of the whole place, albeit a small place, one to be checked now nonetheless. I try and get particularly good scans of the shrine and alcoves.

At the moment the last seal is broken, the doors of the shrine open and a rush of wind blows out of it, departing the chamber. A moaning sigh says, as it fades in the distance:

"Curse you for what you have done to destroy me..."

Inside the now open shrine can be seen an inner vault of granite the color of dried blood. The lid looks as if it is mortared shut.

Ahi activates his medaillon to gain its True Sight ability and carefully studies the chamber, but discovers nothing.

Ahi readies his holy symbol and runs through some prayers to Neith preparing for any (hopefully not futile) turning attempt.
