The coffers seem to be made of carved sandalwood, with each one being about 3'x2'x1' in size. Brass latches are visible but no locks. The recesses only seem to hold the coffers and nothing else.

Eilkhan moves over to Sol's position and does exactly what he asks, inspecting the coffers very carefully.

Carefully searching both coffers for traps without yet removing them from the niches, Eilkhan can find nothing that hints at a trap.

she hands him a rope "In case there's a trap I'll tie this around my waist and you can pull me up."

Eilkhan reaches and removes the coffer in front of her, tensing for anything. Her hands hold it and she removes it.

OOC: I'm confused: Which statuette is Eilkhan removing? There is no one there. Did you mean to say that she wants to remove one of the coffers from the niches instead? If so, she needs both hands for this....

Eilkhan carefully removes the coffer from the left niche without activating any kind of trap. The coffer is quite heavy for its size.
