It seems that the magic has left them...

Ahi and Kherim prepare for the fight. They cast all their Negative Plane Protection spells (5) on everyone in the party. Then, Ahi casts Protection from Evil on Sol.

After this, if everyone agrees, Kherim and Sol would go out of the side corridor and approach the statues in the center.

Sol and Gaderon agree to the plan. Gaderon will prepare to cast chain-lightning on the two statues, should they come alive.

OOC: Since you didn't tell me from which direct you approach the statues, I picked the one that seemed most logical for me. Please tell me in case this wasn't what you intended.

IC: As soon as Kherim and Sol pass the pillars and move a few steps towards the towering statue of the scorpion-snake, a long sighing sound with a sort of hissing quality can be heard by everyone. The green stone monster is breathing! Its coils twitch! It is alive!

OOC: You all get one free round of attacks because you were prepared for something like this to happen. Please state your intentions.

Ahi casts Holy Word centered in the statue.

Kherim blows his horn in the direction of the living statue and the one behind it.

Sol will attempt to attack the statue with the magic warhammer.

Gaderon will cast dispel illusion, just in in case...

Round 1

The statue of the scorpion-snake needs this full round to change from stone to flesh, which enables all of you to launch a free attack

OOC: I provide attack rolls for Sol this time, Greg, to get things going, okay?

Gaderon's spell reveals no illusions in the area of effect to him, but the wizard notices that the crystal eyes of the statue of Rahotep have begun to glow with a dark red light, and the head of the statue seems to move as if to watch the battle.

The Holy Word cast by Ahi has no discernible effect on the scorpion-snake.

Sol jumps forward and swings his magical hammer against the huge beast that comes alive before him. All threee of his swings hit, and he scores a total damage of 21.

The effect from Kherim's horn doesn't seem to harm both scorpion-snake and statue, which hints at some kind of magic resistance or immunity.

Turning invisible, Eilkhan moves to a location that better enables her to strike at the scorpion-snake without being endangered to get hit herself.

OOC: Next round, the transformation of the statue will be complete and it will be able to attack. I've not provided a new map as nothing much has changed so far with the positions, except for Eilkhan, who you cannot see right now.

[OOC: so, the worst possible outcome it seems, no effect on any of my actions . Given that Holy Word does not allow a ST, I'd assume it had no effect due to Spell Resistance, which again is bad news if we plan to use more magic against it.

Also, did it catch the Rahotep statue within its radius?

By the way, just noticed that Ahi has +4 magical attack adjustment due to Wisdom. What does this do?]

Sol will change weapons drawing Tizona (I thought the creature was stone and that the hammer would be more effective).

One attack this round (assuming Tizona is +1, if the snake is regenerating, cold using, inflammable, avian or undead please adjust accordingly): to hit: 16, damage 11

Gaderon will attempt to cast polymorph other on the scorpion-snake, turning him into a harmless flower.

OOC: Yes, the statue of Rahotep was within range of the Holy Word, but Ahi can't tell if it was affected because the huge scorpion-snake blocked his view. The +4 is a ST bonus that Ahi has vs magical attacks which are directed against the mind.

All your attacks hit the monster. The scorpion-snake is so big that it can be hardly missed. It also doesn't seem to be very quick, and its reptilian skin surprisingly isn't very hard as well. The total damage that Sol, Kherim and Ahi score is 32. OOC: Kherim is only able to attack once because he must put away the horn before. He could of course simply drop it, but it's a large instrument, and someone might stumble upon it during the heat of battle, or it might get crushed by the monster.

Gaderon's polymorph spell seems to have no effect on the monster, but whether this is due to a possible magic resistance or because it made its saving throw, he can't say.

Eilkhan remains unseen to all of you, and you can't tell what she might be planning in this situation.

The scorpion-snake surprises you with the fact that it speaks while it attacks with its two huge pincers. It utters a single word, and suddenly a ring of red and orange flames roar up and surround the beast. Kherim, Ahi and Sol are caught in the flames and suffer 24 points of fire damage each. The two pincer attacks are aimed at Kherim and Ahi, with the result that both are are grabbed and held while the monster easily lifts them up in the air within striking range of its stinger, seeing to it that both remain within the flames to get more fire damage next round too.
