As Sol picks up and admires the guilded war spear, he comments to Ahi "Such magic surely can help us. I would appreciate your gods' protection." He then goes over and prepares to pry off the lid. "Is everyone ready?"

OOC: Yep, I do believe paladins generate Protection from Evil in a 10 foot radius. Also, one little thing, can we try when doing our IC statements not to use the book names for spells as for me it erodes the feeling of emersion in the game. Just a pet peeve of mine.

IC: Kherim scowls as he looks upon the sarcophagus, "There is something within the sarcophagus that is very evil. It is the dead that through dark sorcery, now moves among the living. Sol, be very careful opening the coffin. Ahi, let you and I call upon the gods to drive away this thing upon it's release and should we fail then we must all fall upon it in our own fashion."

OOC: I would suggest allowing Ahi and Kherim a chance to turn the undead before attacking it. I believe also that attacking a turned undead allows it to attack back.

Eilkhan nods, letting them know she is ready.

OOC: Aid or Bless works cumulative with the Heroes' Feast, so no problem with that. Ron has notified me that he will probably not be able to post until monday. Should we wait until he returns or do one of you guys want to decide what Ahi is about to do? Ron left that question open, so I thought I'll ask.

OOC: I would think his first action would be to try and turn any undead that might be within.

OOC: I think so too. What about those spells that he offered to cast?

OOC: I was trying to encourage Ahi to caste the protection from evil spell, but if he didn't say he was going to caste the spells let's not worry about them. Just go forward. He can caste them when he gets back, if he still wants to.

ooc: Assuming the others are within 10 feet of Kherim they automatically benefit from a protection from evil effect. He mentioned trying to use Spiritual Hammer to chisel open the coffin. Of course he also mentioned he did not memorize that spell so the point of whether it can be used in such a fashion is moot. I believe his intention was to try and turn first then cast Aid should the turn fail.

OOC: Okay, then let's proceed without any spell casting for the moment

IC: There's not much room within the wooden shrine, and only three of you can stand in there at all. Should a fight break out, space will be much too confined to use any weapon larger than a shortsword, and even this could become complicated.

Ahi and Kherim stand next to each other at the left side of the sarcophagus while Sol uses the war spear to lift the lid. The lid is extremely heavy too, and it becomes clear that Sol needs some assistance in removing it completely. Since no one else fits inside the shrine, Kherim and Ahi help him and the three of them manage to raise the lid and send it crashing to the floor.

Inside is yet another sarcophagus, this one made of polished wood, its lid painted and gilded with Rahotep's likeness, the body portion a mass of scenes and hieroglyphics. In it, something's moving. Ahi, Kherim and Sol clearly see the sarcophagus move and tremble. and hear scratching, scraping noises from the inside.

Looking to the others Kherim frowns even as he takes back up his shield and draws from his belt a long and wickedly curved dagger. "The evil thing is within, shall we simply set it ablaze within it's coffin?"
