Gaderon looks to the others with some dismay. He had not prepared the spell necessary to perhaps contain the coming construct. Still he could perhaps deal significant damage but short of using another disintegration or dispelling the thing if it does not negate his magic entirely he does not know what he might do. He has one option that may with some confidence help defeat the the menace but only with great cost to himself and he is saving such where he can. He begins however preparing a spell for at least attempting to combat the menace (Bigby’s Clenched Fist) but also mentions loudly to the others.

"If I might add that if we fight it here there is little room to avoid it. Perhaps it might follow us back a ways into the larger room from before that we could fare better in tactically defeating the thing? If it is truly a mindless creation we may find it easier to handle if we can maneuver!"

OOC: Welcome back, Dani, and a belated Happy New Year to you!

IC: Sol, who immediately started running after hearing Eilkhan's warning shout, barely makes it across the next corridor opening as the flaming ball that was floating above the hands of the Sekhmet statue suddenly flies towards the corridor's end with blinding speed. There it stops again, hovering menacingly in midair and blocking the passage in a way that won't make it easy to get past it without touching it. Meeting with Ahi, Eilkhan, and Kherim, the four of them see the Sobek statue rounding the corner and approaching them steadily, lowering its bronze staff while it does so.

Hearing something from behind, Ivid spins around and sees two large creatures rounding the corner that he quickly identifies as gholles, vile and monstrous undead beings that look like a crossbreed of human and hyena, with massive and strong gorilla-like bodies.

OOC: Combat ensues now. Please state your actions for the first melee round!

"It's a trap!"

Ivid will cower down behind Elmo and shoot three silver arrows against the hyena zombies, trying immobilize the first one, at least.

It certainly was... Still while Ivid cried out such Gaderon knew that staying in these corridors would spell disaster for them, and blundering further in could be worse. Clearing the way back would be their best bet and to do that he had to get the others away from the Golem in order to let them fall back and get rid of the threat if they could back whence they came.

"Ivid! Elmo! If we can, we need to fall back that way so what do you see?"

With danger approaching from all fronts it is with the fire sphere Gaderon will switch his mind to defeating and begins casting dispel magic upon it. He will have to use (Bigby’s Clenched Fist) next round but for now begins concentrating on dismissing the spell.

"OOC: Hey everybody! Hey Sir C! Hope the holidays were good to you all as well!!!"

Sol is wishing he had not tried to reach the point of the group so hastily, as he turns and watches to see if Gaderon's spell is successful or not. If it is, he will move back to where Ivid is to fight the zombies; otherwise, he will see if he can switch places with Ahi and Eilkhan to get up near Kherim to help there.

Eilkhan, not being very combat oriented would be glad to trade places with Sol.

Kherim, seeing the statue approach and the predicament they are in, moves forward trying to gain some time for the rest of the team.
Ahi will move forward trying to strike ONCE at the statue with his Rod of Smiting, then retreating to give way to the warriors.

OOC: I'm extraordinarily busy this week. You'll probably have to go on without me, meanwhile. Please, do your best with Kherim and Ahi.

OOC: I think that it's okay if we wait for your posts, Alex. Don't worry.

Round 1: The party wins initiative

All three silver arrows fired by Ivid hit the foremost gholle squarely in the chest, causing a total of 19 points of damage to the creature. Not taking much notice of them, the gholle and its companion quickly move ahead and reach Elmo who stands in the corridor, swinging his big axe. The stench of death and corruption that surrounds the two undead monsters is awful to bear. (OOC: Elmo, Ivid, and Sol all need to make an immediate ST vs poison against its effects.) Worse still, the glaring eyes of the foremost gholle fixate on Elmo, and the warrior feels a strange and numbing effect effect taking place (OOC: And yet another ST for Elmo, this one vs paralyzation.)

Gaderon sees with some satisfaction that the flaming sphere is snuffed out by his spell. Only a heartbeat later, Sol hurries back to join Ivid and Elmo, but the restricted space within the narrow corridor makes it impossible for him to get in melee range.

While Eilkhan moves past Ahi, the cleric rushes forward to attack the statue with the Uas rod. As he's only two steps away from it, an electrical discharge from the lowered bronze staff of the statue arcs forward and hits him. (OOC: Please make a ST for Ahi. He's only able to attack with his rod when the save is successful. Please make an attack roll for him nonetheless, just in case.)

Suffering from the same space restrictions as Sol, Kherim will have to wait with his attack until he's able to approach the statue.

[Sol got a 14 for his ST]

Sol will attempt to move past Ivid and into the corridor to his right, intending to be able to attack the thing from the side while Elmo and Ivid face it from the corridor where Gaderon is. He will use his sword, Tizona, in his right hand and the hold the warhammer in his left, using it more like a shield to block incoming blows.

Gaderon noticing the layout where his spell took effect and remembering a little of the structure comes to an idea of how to perhaps get past these creatures and put them between them and the construct.

"Elmo, Ivid, Sol! Begin falling back toward me a little if you can but don't break off entirely!!! Everyone!!! When I next shout "RUN" run to me! If I am hearing and seeing the battle right I may need sword arms in front of me when my next spell is done but I may be able to give us a slight lead in heading back and change the battles flow."

OOC: Gaderon moves into the square where the fire orb had been and now begins casting (Passwall) on the wall that would be directly to his right if he marched down the way the map is facing. If the spell works he will call out for everyone again. He hopes to end the spell after they enter but before their enemies follow with them on the other side!
