The timeline says the Afridhi reached Ten in 1005. Hadeen's death took place when the Afridhi first attacked the Peshwa. 25 years ago feels a little recent? Could there have been wars between the Afridhi and the Peshwa prior to this?

Hak, God of the Winds and of Horses wept.

His two favored mortal servants, the twins Horghast and Herutu, lay dead, murdered by the river banks where the Peshwa horses often grazed. Their killers were Thonians, sons of Odir, as the Peshwa called them. But Hak knew who was the real force behind the killing. He had confronted Calelrin about it, but the God had tried to lie to his father. Hak was above such deceptions of course and had banished Calelrin from the Celestial Realms and severed his bonds with horses.

Now, Calelrin was on the run. A fallen God fleeing across the great plains north of King Robert's Realm, wrecking destruction in his path. Hak summoned his Wind Hunters. These winged warriors, mounted on flying horses, were prepared to do the bidding of the Wind God at any cost. Their leader was Hulako. Seven Winged Hunters went with him. Their pursuit was fierce. Servants of the Fallen God tried to stop them, but they slew every one of them. Hulako watched over the youngest of their band, Kahita. He was proud to see her prove herself among the Hunters across many battles.

Finally they tracked Calelrin to a strange and dark valley. It lead them to where Calelrin had fled. The Black Gates of the Demon Realm. For nine days, Hulako and the Hunters stood watch outside the Gates. When the gates finally opened, the things that came out were so terrible they are impossible to describe. The Wind Hunters fought bravely, but they were slain and torn apart by the demons. You must return and warn about this, Hulako told Kahita with his dying words. But Kahita was already bleeding from deep cuts. She managed to drag herself across plans and mountains before she finally knew that she had escaped. Some say she was able to deliver her message before she eventually bled to death.

Notes: The story of Hak and Calelrin was introduced in the d20 Dave Arneson's Blackmoor Sourcebook. The tale of the murder of Horghast and Herutu first appeared in Sons of Hak, a sourcebook for the d20 Blackmoor line. The story of the Hunters is my creation and part of a project I am working on.

Hello all!

I am brand new to this site. Thanks for the invite Havard. Hope some people recognize my username from a very popular book? Anyways, I joined here to get the MMRPG season downloads. I now see it looks like the early season's are no longer available? Is that correct? Is there no way to access them anymore at all? Anyways, I am currently reading the 3.5 Blackmoor Core rulebook and already read the First Fantasy Book. Going to start an OD&D "Blackmoor" Campaign. I was hoping to use the "adventures" from the MMRPG after B2 (I know thats for Basic, but still great for anything really besides AD&D) after that if I cannot use the MMRPG's, what do you guys use or have in mind for OD&D Blackmoor adventures? Those were never created. Don't tell me B modules. I already have a BECMI campaign going also. I am sure there is other "modules" on here others use maybe? Oh, is the 3.5 adventures any good to start with? I know there is a few small ones in the back of the Core book it seems. Let me know your thoughts. I am kind of lost since I never played OD&D before. I know conversion from 3.5 to OD&D is going to be a PITA! Just trying to figure out what Gygax meant in the 3 LBB's was confusing for me. Thank God books like Delving Deeper and S&W was created. Matt Finch is a pretty awesome guy. I have sent him about 100 emails. Anyways, enough rambling let me know your thoughts....

The Children of Zug are mentioned in DA4 The Duchy of Ten at page 41, as part of the description of Dost Suwat:

Quote:The Afridhi warrior Dost Suwat belongs to a secret society of Afridhi males called the Children of Zu,. According to their beliefs, the current worship of Zugzul in his Zul aspect ignores the dual nature of the god as both Zu! (ice) and Zul (fire). Further, the Children of Zug believe that the present Afridhi theology is at least partly the result of a conspiracy of the Sisters of Fire to keep male Afridhi subservient and to hide their god’s Zug aspect.
Since coming down from their chilly, isolated mountains, Afridhi males have seen several societies where females are subservient or, at best, equal. Many of them now believe that it is time for equality within their own tribe, and the most radical proponents of this belief are the Children of Zug. Since they cannot hope to have their heresy accepted by the Afridhi matriarchy, they seek to discredit the Sisters of Fire by wrecking their efforts to prosecute the war. As a faithful Child of Zug, Dost Suwat seeks to further this aim by doing what he can to sabotage the completion of the Well of Souls.

Have you ever found this trope used anywhere else in the Blackmoor canon (or fanon)?
Have you ever used the Children of Zug in your home Blackmoor campaigns?

I have every bit of released Blackmoor content.
From the DA series, to the FFC, to the ZTG books and MMRPG, as well as the Age of the Wolf (However i hear that might not be totally accurate or useful anymore). So with that i want to start planning for a Blackmoor campaign and would like to use as much of the material that i can use as possible. So my question is. What order should the adventures of all this material be played and used in?

I was revisiting the d20 module City of the Gods. One of the location in the adventure includes an encounter with Orcamen. They are detailed as HD9 Huge Animals, but they are noted to be able to use spears. No real description is given for them.

ARE ORCAFOLK A BLACKMOOR RACE?
Note, the Orcamen in the adventure are found in a section of the City of the Gods that contains creatures and samples that have been captured by the Space Ship across multiple worlds. There are several creatures in this part of the ship that have been abducted from different parts of Blackmoor's world, but others are clearly more alien in nature.

HOW CAN WE EXPAND UPON THE RACE?
I was thinking about the Darfellans from Stormwrack, another 3E book that could be used to expand on these creatures. I always like the Darfellans. In the adventure, tthe Orcamen are found near captured Skandaharians, so if they can be found in Blackmoor's world then it is possible that they live near those lands.

Other ideas?

My own thoughts:

Always good to see people having fun with Blackmoor.

I don't know Justin Alexander, but I understand that he has been invited as a special guest at some of the Blackmoor conventions. I think he was the person who came up with the term Jaquaysing the Dungeon, based on analysing Jennell Jaquays' way of building dungeons?

His maps looks quite nice. It is clearly based on the pre-FFC versions of the map. We can see Dragon Rock going by its older name Serpents Rock. Tonisborg (with a different spelling) was replaced by Vestfold in the FFC. It seems Alexander have included both towns on his map? Perhaps a nod to Greg Svenson's recent publication? On most of Arneson's maps the South Road turns west and leads to Vestfold, just like the road leading from the Troll Gate, but perhaps Alexander's Blackmoor has both Tonisborg and Vestfold in two very differnt parts of Blackmoor? Bramwald is spelled Gramwald, which I think is a mistake by Alexander. It is a bit hard to make out on the scan I have of the old map, but anyone who is familiar with other Blackmoor material should be able to make it out. The Silver Dragon Inn was renamed "Town Inn" in the FFC, but this name does appear on the original map.

A few other locations are not shown on this map.

Note: This is a fan creation by Havard.

Background
Some say it was the Egg of Coot that caused the waters around Blackmoor to rise and the land begun to sink. A few centuries ago, the Black Sea and the North Sea joined as lands north of Maus were flooded. The elven realm had already become divided a few centuries earlier, but now the elves living in the northern woods became separated from their cousins in the Redwood. Most of the northern elves sought refuge in the Winter Woods, north of the Gremlin Woods, stretching deep into the Skandaharian Jarldoms. Many of the elven groups living in the Winter Woods already had their own

Description
Most Winter Elves are somewhat taller than their Redwood cousins. They are usually fair skinned with blonde to white hair and frosty blue eyes. They wear deerskin clothes and furs. They reach maturity at 100 years and can live up to 800 years or more. Few live that long however as the Winter Elves live in a region with harsh climate and many are killed in conflict or in the struggle to survive.

Alignment
Winter Elves lean towards Neutral Good alignment, although may variations exist.

Culture
Winter Elf culture is based around hunting. They travel often using dogsleds, showshoes or skis. They often gather around the fires and entertain eachother through song and dance. Many are pranksters, enjoying to play pranks on each other and on peoples from other cultures.

Male Names
Thiordannar, Trudelithim, Niarlar, Niarlothim, Marlothar, Golithim, Grolithar,

Female Names
Thiordanna, Thiorella, Truteldia, Grolithella

Lands of the Winter Elves
Most Winter Elves live in the lands north of the Black Sea. Most are found in the Winter Woods (north of the map) and the Gremlin Woods. The Winter Woods stretch deep into the lands of the Skandaharians. Most of the lands controlled by the Winter Elves are dominated by coniferous forests, but also includes lakes, hills and mountains. The most notable feature is perhaps the volcanic Mt. Fiumarra. The largest settlement is called Icehold which is the home of Lord Esthioran Windwalker, the de facto ruler of all the Winter Elves. Formally they still recognize Mendander Ithamis, even though contact between the two groups have dwindled.

Gods and Beliefs
Druids are highly respected among the Winter Elves. Gods commonly followed include Ferros (N), Hydros (N), Aeros (N), Fiumarra (CN), Dealth (CN), Faunus (CN) Sylvian (N), Ordana (NG), Terra (LN). They also follow Sacwynne whom they refer to as Skadi.

Allies and Enemies
The Winter Elves are allied with the Cumasti. They are also on civil terms with the Westryn whom they sometimes encounter in the Wolf Woods. Their relation to the Skandaharians is sometimes peaceful, but at other times they are in conflict.

Trivia
In the Mystara cosmology, these Winter Elves could be among the ancestors of the Icevale Elves, although officially those elves lived farther to the west.
I hope everyone has had nice celebrations for the New Year and are ready for 2025 to begin. 50 years ago, TSR published the second supplement for D&D. This booklet bore the title Blackmoor and was written by D&D Co-Creator Dave Arneson, edited by Tim Kask and included additional material by Steve Marsh, Brian Blume and others. It was based on the campaign Dave Arneson and his friends had been running for many years prior.

This will be as good a year as any to celebrate our favorite D&D campaign world! I hope the year will be a good one for all readers of this blog.
