This mountain range in the Greyhawk setting is home to many dwarven kingdoms. Could it be named after Stephen L. Lortz?

Not likely, I think, because they are set in the Principality of Ulek, which is a Gygaxian creation, for all I know.

Likely just "Lort" and "Mill".
Like the humanoids were ground away until the demihumans finally kicked them out of the mountain range, the Lort (grime, filth) is Milled away.
Or something like that.
Nevond Nevnend is harder for me. Truncated phrase terms? Or,
Gryrax. A spoonerism or portmanteau?
