Running Blackmoor with OD&D? - Havard - 08-30-2010

Does anyone have experience running Blackmoor with Original Edition D&D? What are your thoughts? Which supplements/Rules/Classes do you use/allow?

Do you use any house rules or variants to make the game more Arnesonian?

Years ago, I used the original Supplement II and background from the DA series. Since I didn't have a proper map of the City of Blackmoor at the time (has there ever been one outside of the Domesday Book?), I included a life-size statue of Dave Arneson in the town square with a plaque reading "OUR FOUNDER". Hahahaha... AWESOMENESS IS AWESOME. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

If we here ever do a map for Blackmoor town, this should be in it!

...As to your question, I think there is another map in the FFC. Smile

A cute idea, Scott! As for the OD&D books, I would say that any and all are acceptable. My personal opinion. Dave certianly didn't restrict us as far as choosing races or classes...

Leans over, picks up handy copy of FFC laying next to table...rifle, rifle, rifle...yup, there it is on page 20. That might have been the one I was thinking of. I don't have the Domesday Book map handy but I want to say it was similar, just showing a smaller area of the city proper and not so much of the surroundings...but it's been a while since I looked at it.

I think that Blackmoor is more of an attitude than anything else. And OD&D is the only rules set I've used for Blackmoor (add to that the FFC) although I may use C&C sometime.

Nothing fancy. I allow all of the LBB+supplements.

Do you write the rules to adapt C&C to Blackmoor setting ?

Hi guys.
For the moment my campaign in Blackmoor is stopped. We do not appreciate the brutal end of Zeitgeist Games. The 4E edition was very not liked.

We try to use Pathfinder RPG, but finally my players prefers try the Golarion world. The campaign is now ended and we play Dragon Age game. This ruleset is excellent : adapt it to Blackmoor can be fun
