Petrus Galliar - aldarron - 10-07-2019

Holy sky rockets. I must have read or at least skimmed through the history section of The Wizards Cabal a score of times and yet somehow I never took much notice of the name "Petrus Galliar" pn page 18.

During the Second Coot Invasion (spring 1972 - year 997), a wizard by the name of Petrus acted as a double agent against the forces of coot. "Petrus Galliar" has to be a nod to Pete Gaylord.

These finds and all the connections to the early Blackmoor players are some of the best aspects of the setting. I think Blackmoor's historical significance is its strongest appeal and marketing strength among newer D&D players and those unfamiliar with the setting. It's an opportunity to role play in the first ever fantasy campaign setting and interact with NPCs who were played by some of the first fantasy role players. You can't get that with any other setting, although Greyhawk has some similar appeal.
