Blackmoor Rolemaster? - Wodwulf_Seaxaning - 05-20-2017 Has anyone tried converting Blackmoor to ICE's Rolemaster rule set? I think it'd work especially if you want to play up the sci-fi angle of the setting with adding elements from Spacemaster to it. I am thinking of doing this myself in order to give me time to develop my own home brew setting as I don't want to rush it as I did my previous home brew. Re: Blackmoor Rolemaster? - RobJN - 05-21-2017 Back in middle school/high school, I had a couple friends who had Rolemaster, but we never played it. Still, I am always interested in seeing the what/how/why of others' conversions of (one of) my favorite setting(s). What is it about Rolemaster/Spacemaster and Blackmoor that go so well together? I'll admit, I only remember endless pages of charts from a friend's I.C.E. Middle Earth supplement. Herbs, what you can make from them, how much they'd cost, how much trouble you'd be in if you ate X, Y, or Z. (especially in that order...) Re: Blackmoor Rolemaster? - Rafael - 05-22-2017 There is one particular adventure, "Shades of the Sinking Plain", by Northpole Publishing, that I always thought would be great for Blackmoor: It uses some of the tropes that we also find in the Duchy of Ten, and in DA3 and DA4. It's really hard to get, these days, because the NPP products are not available through ICE's webstore, but if you find it somewhere cheap, it's well worth the investment. For me, it has to do with the grittiness of setting & frankly the sci-fi elements of the setting. If you need sci-fi tech, blasters or robots, just plug in Space Master stuff that fits the needs. Plus I just happen to love Role Master compared to D&D, I just have a hard time seeing myself run any other game. Re: Blackmoor Rolemaster? - RobJN - 05-30-2017 I hear ya, on the "I like the game so much, I ported Blackmoor into it!" front. Did the same thing with TSR/WotC's Alternity Sci Fi RPG Re: Blackmoor Rolemaster? - Yaztromo - 05-31-2017 I did it too! I think it's a good way to add to the setting. I haven't played RoleMaster since the early 1990. There was only one GM in our group who was able to pull off that role, but we all had fun playing. We mostly used Middle Earth as our setting because we started with MERP and then moved on to RM, but we also tried out a few other variants. I do recall playing a Jedi-like character in a SpaceMaster game. -Havard |
