Marvel Comics elements in D&D - Havard - 06-12-2014

In this blog entry from the Mule Abides, written by our own Tavis, we learn the following:

The cover of OD&D’s Men and Magic shows striking similarities to artwork by Dan Adkins, originally found in Doc Strange comic #167, Apr 1968, on page 11:

Similarly the art from writer/artist Jim Steranko’s SHIELD story in Strange Tales #167, page 6, panel 1 also made it into OD&D:

I also heard a couple of spells as well as how Astral Travel works in D&D was something Gary based on Doc Strange comics.

Does anyone know of more examples where elements from Marvel Comics (Or other comics) make it into early editions of D&D?

What beautiful swipes! I'm not surprised that fan artists of the era were reading Marvel Comics. If I come across any others, I'll be sure to let you know.
