Swamp Adventures? (Any edition) - Havard - 05-20-2012 I started a thread over at the Piazza about the AD&D module Swamplight as I was thinking it could be used with Blackmoor. Swamps and marshland is a big part of the setting. Which other modules deal with exploration of swamps and similar landscapes? Classic D&D
AD&D
Please help me expand these lists? -Havard Re: Swamp Adventures? (Any edition) - aldarron - 05-22-2012 Baltrons Beacon Back in the early '90's when I had 2e campaign I used Baltrons beacon and DA2 ToTF together. Couple others that come to mind are the sunken ziggurat adventure in the MMRPG, the rather short Swamp of Sighs and Tomb of the Lizard King. And I've got an old catalog that says Knights of newts has something to do with a "black swamp" To be honest, I've never been satisfied with the few swamp oriented adventures I've read. Seems like this kind of adventure is way underexplored. Re: Swamp Adventures? (Any edition) - Havard - 06-01-2012 Baltron's Beacon? Never heard of that one...? Knight of Newts is indeed a swamp adventure set in Thunder Rift. It is a fairly basic adventure about a castle that has sunk into the swamp. I think you are right that this sort of adventure must be underexplored at least in terms of published adventures... -Havard Re: Swamp Adventures? (Any edition) - RobJN - 12-17-2012 I8, "Ravager of Time" is set in and near a swamp. Not sure if I2, "Tomb of the Lizard King" is or not... Re: Swamp Adventures? (Any edition) - Yaztromo - 12-17-2012 I just found "Blackmarsh", clearly inspired by Blackmoor, and available for free... it introduces a few elements that fit with the general setting and that may be recycled easily in a Blackmoor campaign... (Any edition) - Rafael - 12-19-2012 Ravenloft's Night of the Walking Dead is an excellent adventure, whose basic plot could well be used for BM as well. With a lot of changes, of course. Also, from Ravenloft, and one of my favorite parts in fantasy gaming EVER is the Shadowlands Cluster, as detailed in the adventures A Light in the Belfry, and Bane of the Shadowborn. I am inclined to say, this is the closest I have ever seen a random adventure come to match my version of Blackmoor. But that's not why I like it, but because it's so intensely playable! Re: Swamp Adventures? (Any edition) - Rafael - 12-19-2012 Also, talking about Swamp Adventures: Return to the Tomb of Horrors! If the LFC had not anticipated the Egg's victory in The Road, this would have been Ran's Tomb... Skelfer's tomb, I mean. |
