Re: The Hello Thread! - Tamerlaine - 04-02-2020

Hullo all! Old skool grognard here. Started with the blue box in middle school (‘79 or so) then Advanced in high school through college. I remember playing Temple of the Frog and the Adventures in Blackmoor. Got back into it when 5e came out and my son wanted to learn how to play. I prefer the B/X and OSR clones than 5e.

I’m putting together a campaign for some young 5e players I work with who are willing to give B/X a chance, a mashup of KOTB and Barrowmaze set in Blackmoor. This is why I’m here.

Welcome to the Comeback Inn, Tamerlaine! Smile

I'd love to hear more about your current campaign and your experiences with classic Blackmoor adventures back in the days!

What PCs do you have in your group right now?

Thanks for the welcome! There's four guys lined up and I know there will be a Halfling and a Magic-user atm. Things are in hiatus right now with the coronavirus so I'm using the time to make some sense and order of this mash up of resources. But I certainly will let you know how it goes.

Sounds fun! Enjoy!

EDIT: can I suggest you keep us all up to date by posting how the campaign progresses here: viewforum.php?f=76

Re: The Hello Thread! - Blacklibrary - 04-03-2020

Hello!

Looking forward to running my first Blackmoor campaign and ended up here on my search for source books. Very impressed with the support this beloved setting still receives.

Hello everyone, looking forward to learning more about Blackmoor and Dave Arneson, especially how he played the game before 1974 or since.
I like playing in the old style, and am learning more about that freeweelin' style everyday. Looking forward to learning from the old guard on here.

It seems like you came to the right place.

Re: The Hello Thread! - Kan of Kerjean - 04-13-2020

Hi!

Kan of Kerjean here (Colin in real life). From Canada but live in Asia. Developing an elegant little ditty of an RPG called Ode inspired by S. John Ross' Risus. https://empress.cards/Ode-p189251807

I think I love writing more than I do GM'ing, but it's close. Definitely more than playing, which I still do with one of my friend's who is also developing an RPG. I guess there's all kinds of people attracted to this amazing hobby.

Purchased the Secrets of Blackmoor and was blown away by the level of detail they put in it. Can't wait for more.

Also eager to see some of the downloads inspired by Arneson that are hidden(?) in this group.

Yol Bolsun!

Hello Colin!

Welcome to the Comeback Inn!

Hope you like the place.

Your game looks pretty interesting. S. John Ross has done some amazing work. You could do a lot worse than draw inspiration from him! Smile
